Leinefelde-Worbis is a town in the district of Eichsfeld, in northwestern Thuringia, Germany. The town was formed on March 16, 2004, from the former independent towns Leinefelde and Worbis along with the municipalities of Breitenbach and Wintzingerode. In July 2018 the former municipality of Hundeshagen was merged into Leinefelde-Worbis. The population before the amalgamation was 14,387 for Leinefelde, 5,541 for Worbis, 1,021 for Breitenbach and 614 for Wintzingerode. The 10 parts of Leinefelde-Worbis are Leinefelde, Worbis, Breitenbach, Kirchohmfeld, Birkungen, Beuren, Hundeshagen, Kaltohmfeld, Wintzingrode and Breitenholz.

The Edersee Dam is a hydroelectric dam spanning the Eder river in northern Hesse, Germany. Constructed between 1908 and 1914, it lies near the small town of Waldeck at the northern edge of the Kellerwald. Breached by Allied bombs during World War II, it was rebuilt during the war, and today generates hydroelectric power and regulates water levels for shipping on the Weser river. At low water in late summers of dry years the remnants of three villages and a bridge across the original river bed submerged when the lake was filled in 1914 can be seen. Descendants of those buried there go to visit the graves of their ancestors.

The Hermannsdenkmal is a monument located southwest of Detmold in the district of Lippe, in Germany. It stands on the densely forested Grotenburg, sometimes also called the Teutberg or Teut, a hill in the Teutoburger Wald range. The monument is located inside the remains of a circular rampart. The monument was constructed between 1838 and 1875 to commemorate the Cherusci war chief Arminius and his victory over Rome at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. When the statue was built, its location was believed to be near the original battle site, although experts now consider it more likely that the battle took place near Kalkriese, about 100 km to the north-west.

Hainich National Park (German: Nationalpark Hainich), founded on December 31, 1997, is the 13th national park in Germany and the only one in Thuringia.
One of the main objectives of the park is the protection of native beech forest.
In 2011, the park was added to the Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and the Ancient Beech Forests of Germany World Heritage Site.
The 75 square kilometres park lies in the western part of the German state of Thuringia, east of the Werra River, and is part of the greater Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park.
It occupies much of the triangular area between the cities of Eisenach, Mühlhausen, and Bad Langensalza.
The national park forms the southern part of the roughly 160 square kilometres Hainich, the largest contiguous deciduous forest in Germany.
The Hainich Forest features a wide range of beech forest communities, with populations of ash trees, hornbeams, maples, lindens, and occasional checker trees.
Many fungi can be found there, along with stands of flowers such as summer snowflakes and anemones.
Animals in the park include wildcats, 15 species of bats, 7 species of woodpeckers, and over 500 types of wood beetles.
The goal of Hainich National Park is to restore a large section of central European forest to its primordial state.
The park covers an area formerly used for military training, with about 50 kilometres of deciduous forest.
In the future, the beech forest should grow to cover most of the park's area.

Wasserspiele - Herkules - Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe

Eine Attraktion am Stadtrand von Kassel ist der Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe. Seit 300 Jahren finden dort in gleicher Weise die Wasserspiele statt. Der Bergpark gehört seit 2013 zum UNESCO Welterbe.

Am oberen Ende des Bergparks befindet sich seit 1717 auf 523 m Höhe das weithin sichtbare Herkules-Denkmal mit einer grandiosen Aussicht über Kassel. Die 8,30 Meter hohe Kupferstatue steht auf einer Pyramide und das gesamte Bauwerk ist 71 Meter hoch und kann besichtigt werden.

Die Wasserspiele können Von Mai bis Anfang Oktober jeden Mittwoch und Sonntag tagsüber bestaunt werden. Besonders schön sind die spätabendlichen Vorführungen. Die Termine findet man bei Google.

Die Wasserspiele im Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe beginnen immer direkt unterhalb vom Herkules am Riesenkopfbecken und verlaufen über eine 1,5 Kilometer lange Kaskadenanlage. Man geht bergab entlang der Kaskaden zum Steinhöfer Wasserfall, weiter zur Teufelsbrücke und dann zum Aquädukt und den Peneuskaskaden. Unten vor dem Schloss Wilhelmshöhe kommt die Riesenfontäne am Fontänenteich zum Abschluss. Die Fontäne erreicht seit 300 Jahren durch natürlichen Wasserdruck von über acht Bar eine Höhe von über 50 Metern. Jedes Wasserspiel wird ca. 10 Minuten lang inszeniert und das Spektakel dauert ca. 1,5 Stunden. Dabei wird das Wasser ohne Pumpen aus Speicherbecken so abgelassen, dass die jeweiligen Stationen der Wasserspiele ausreichend mit Wasser versorgt sind.

Wer die nächtliche Veranstaltung besucht, sollte Taschenlampe und Wanderschuhe nicht vergessen. Viele Wege sind unbeleuchtet. Kondition schadet nicht. Der Höhenunterschied vom Fontänenteich am Schloss Wilhelmshöhe zum Herkules-Denkmal beträgt ungefähr 225 Meter. Entweder man steigt erst ca. 45 Minuten auf und ist am Ende wieder unten am Parkplatz oder man parkt oben und muss am Ende wieder durch die Dunkelheit bis zum Herkules aufsteigen.

Brünn Brno Historischer Stadtrundgang

Brünn ist als zweitgrößte Stadt der Tschechischen Republik zugleich das historische Zentrum Mährens. Unseren gemeinsamer Stadtrundgang beginnen wir beim „Neuen Rathaus.“ Seit 1935 ist das ehemalige Dominikanerkloster Sitz der Brüder Stadtverwaltung. Die Dominkanerkirche St.Michael war ein untrennbarer Bestandteil des Klosters. Wenige Schritte weiter erreichen wir das „Alte Rathaus“. Das „Alte Rathaus“ ist der älteste Profanbau in Brünn; er entstand um 1240.
Das Eingangsportal mit dem verkrümmten Türmchen wurde vom Bildhauer Anton Pilgram geschaffen. Da die Ratsherren die finanzielle Forderungen des Meisters nicht erfüllten, baute Meister Pilgram das Türmchen schief. Keine 50 Meter weiter treffen wir auf den Kohlmarkt.
Der Obere Markt oder Kohlmarkt entstand bereits bei der Gründung der Stadt am Anfang des 13.Jahrhunderts und besteht bis heute. In der Mitte des Markplatzes steht der barocke Parnasbrunnen, erbaut von Fischer von Erlach. Im oberen Bereich des Platzes steht die Säule der Dreieinigkeit. Anschließend geht es den Petersberg hinauf zur Kathedrale St.Peter und Paul. In mittelalterlichen Zeiten war das Kircheninnere dem einfachen Volk verschlossen.
Während die feine Gesellschaft die Messe im Inneren der Kirche verfolgen durfte, wurde dem gemeinen Volk auf dem Vorplatz von der Kanzel gepredigt. Die Türme der Kathedrale können bestiegen werden. Belohnt wird die Mühe mit einem herrlichen Ausblick über die Stadt bis zur gegenüber liegenden Festung Spielberg. Unterhalb der Kathedrale, am Fuße des Berges befindet sich eine gepflegte Gartenanlage mit einer Kolonnade und einem Obelisk. Der Obelisk wurde aus Dankbarkeit für das Ende der napoleonischen Kriege 1818 aufgestellt. Jetzt geht es wieder kurz zum Kohlmarkt und weiter zum Kapuzinerplatz Richtung Josefskà und Minoritskà, vorbei am Minoritenkloster zur Klosterkirche St.Johannes. Diese Kirche ist der wertvollste Brünner Bau aus der spätbarocken Epoche. Vom Minoritenkloster spazieren wir weiter zum Malinowskiplatz, vorbei am ehemaligen Deutschen Stadttheater und erreichen eine großzügige Parkanlage. Ähnlich dem Stadtpark in Wien war hier ein Teil der alten Wehranlage der Stadt. Am Ende des Parks durchqueren wir einen Durchgang durch das ehemalige Augustiner Kloster und erreichen den Mährischen Platz mit der St.Thomas-Kirche. Nur wenige Schritte stadteinwärts steht die St.Jakobskirche, ein spätgotischer Bau. Über dem südlichen Turmfenster hängt ein kleines unartiges Männchen …. Die letzte Station unseres Rundganges ist die Festung Spielberg. Die Befestigung besteht seit der zweiten Hälfte des 13. Jahrhunderts. Ursprünglich Sitz der böhmischen Könige und Sitz der mährischen Marktgrafen wurde die Burg im 17. Jahrhundert eine mächtige Barockfestung. Die Mitte des 18.Jahrhunderts fertiggestellten Kasematten wurden ab Ende des 18.Jahrhunderts zu einem gefürchteten Gefängnis eingerichtet.
