The caves were formed from granite boulders and are so named because the deepest cave is cold enough to allow snow to linger long into the summer. The caves are a popular tourist destination. The cave park contains boardwalks, giant boulder gardens, and a small zoo, with deer, pheasants and other unusual game birds, as well as a mining game for children. A rock climbing wall for all ages has been added that takes advantage of the granite cliffs. The caves are well-marked and relatively easy to traverse using walkways and stairs. Flume Gorge located in Lincoln New Hampshire is most famous for its scenic waterfalls and breathtaking vistas. The water flows down the natural gorge and through the Franconia Notch mountains. Luckily we visited this place after a big rain storm so the falls were running pretty high that day. It took us a good two and half hours to hike our way around flume gorge. ▶︎ Rustic, but not! This was the first time i had ever visited a campground in... the mountains. I was a little intimated at first, since i had never been to the mountains but here, there was everything from a rustic campground secluded enough that you feel like you were out in the middle of nowhere, but you were close enough to walk to what i donned The hub' where you'll find a few restaurants, some local stores, mountain bike trails, kayaking and more. I went here during an REI Outessa Event where I was lucky enough to experience Climbing Rumney Rock to hiking up Mount Washington. It was the first time I saw sand trails littered with what looked like quarts crystals. What were those shiny things anyway!? It was magical... it really was. I hope to return again someday and Climb, hike, bike and kayak more...
