Fruit & Veg Market Rathausbrücke
Small market that takes place every Saturday morning. On offer: fruit and vegetables, flowers and plants, bread from the Swiss canton of Appenzell, specialities from the German region Bavaria and more.
Weekly markets have a long tradition both in the city and in the region around Zurich. Here you can find fresh vegetables, choice meat from regional farmers, and freshly baked bread straight from the oven.
Thanks to the top-quality products on sale, the markets are a source of inspiration and point of purchase for numerous Zurich gastronomes. The produce is bought by many professional chefs directly from the market and ends up as mouthwatering menus served at restaurants in the city and around Lake Zurich.
A visit to the farms in the region is also well worthwhile, for often they sell fresh produce in their own farm shops.
The weekly flower and vegetable market is held where tourism originated in Zurich – at the spot where Goethe and Mozart enjoyed the city as the gateway to the Alps. The Rathausbrücke was also the site of a market long ago – which is why the locals still call it the “Gemüsebrücke” (Vegetable Bridge).
Looking for a flea market? Gelmerbahn in the canton of Bern, Switzerland, is the steepest funicular in Europe. It has an inclination of up to 106% and a 1,028m (3,373ft) long track. It takes you to the Gelmer Valley 1860m (6,102ft) above sea level, where you can enjoy some spectacular views.

Berner Zwiebelmarkt 2012 ( Zibelemärit ) Onion Market in Bern Switzerland
Der Zwiebelmarkt (Zibelemärit) findet jährlich am vierten Montag im November in der schweizer Hauptstadt Bern statt,auch bekannt für seinen Bärengraben und dem mechanischen Glockenspiel das stündlich eine wunderbare Figurenparade zeigt.
Es ist ein Jahrmarkt mit Volksfestcharakter der sich über die Haupt-und Nebengassen der oberen Altstadt sowie über den Waisenhaus-und Bundesplatz erstreckt.
An den vielen Verkaufsständen werden mehr als 100 Tonnen Zwiebelzöpfe,Kränze und anderes Wintergemüse verkauft.
Es herscht auch eine carnevalistische Stimmung mit Confettischlachten und Tänzen.Aber auch weihnachtliche Dekorationen können erworben werden.
Es wird angenommen das der traditionelle Zwiebelmarkt auf den grossen Brand von 1405 zurück geht,nach dem die Bauern aus der Seeregion aus dem Kanton Fribourg das Recht erhalten haben ihre Ernte in Bern verkaufen zu dürfen,da sie mithalfen die Stadt wieder aufzubauen.
Die Geschichte ist warscheinlich erfunden weil die erste Erwähnung von Zwiebeln erst für die Mitte des 19.Jahrhunderts bekannt ist.
Zwiebelmarkt (Onion Market)

Zwiebelmarkt is a great celebration of onions and the principal festival of Bern, the capital of Switzerland, known for its bear pit and mechanical clock that displays a parade of wonderful mechanical figures every hour. The onion market is said to date back to the great fire of 1405, after which farmers of the lake region of Canton Fribourg were given the right to sell their products in Bern because they helped rebuild the city. This story is probably a made-up one, since the first documented mention of onions came in the middle of the 19th century.
Farmers at hundreds of stalls offer for sale more than 100 tons of strings of onions, as well as other winter vegetables and nuts. There is a carnival spirit, with confetti battles, people dressed in disguises, and jesters doing satires of the year's events.

HOW TO GET FROM ZURICH AIRPORT TO CITY CENTER BY TRAIN

Zurich airport, , is a mere 10-minute train ride to the city center, with trains leaving about every 10 minutes. Depending on traffic, the fastest way to get to the center of Zurich is by train. Trains run daily from the Zurich Airport to Zurich main Staion every 5 -10 minutes between 5.00 am and 0.30 am.
The train station at Zurich Airport can be found at the lowest level: of the airport Level -2. Just follow the signs. There are some 13 trains per hour to Zürich Hauptbahnhof, Zürich's main city centre station.
A single second class ticket from the Airport to Zurich is 6.80 CHF for Adults for children it is 3.40CHF. The Zurich card for 24 hours is now 27CHF.
