We're confident our travel video guide covered some of the top attractions in Paris along with some suggestions that wouldn't necessarily be found in a tourism guide book including information on festivals, arts, entertainment and dining along with French cuisine. Hello, and welcome to Paris. This week we are exploring the city of love, city of lights and city of art. This video will be showing you the top 50 things to do while you visit Paris.
So we're wrapping things up here. What would be your one tip for visiting Paris? Well, I have recently spent a whole ten days here in summer. I would say that if you really want to visit the art galleries, the museums and all of the main attractions you should probably avoid summer and like either come in the spring or the fall or even winter. Because the lines are insane and sometimes you have to wait like an hour and a half or two hours.
So how about you? What are your final thoughts on Paris? So my finals thoughts is obviously Paris is one of the top cities in the world in terms of attractions. There is going to be garbage, there is going to be lines, there is going to be some areas that are a bit of an eyesore. But there is also a lot of beauty and there is also a lot to do here.

Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France
A twenty-minute visit to the world's most famous cemetery, Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, France. More than a million people have been buried at Père Lachaise, and its tombs are among the most artistic and varied that you'll find anywhere. It's also a quiet, pleasant place for a stroll or a rest—if you don't mind being surrounded by dead bodies.
This video shows how to reach the cemetery, and shows examples of some of the many varied tombs within. It also shows a random handful of celebrity tombs, and a selection of memorial monuments. It's not an inventory of famous dead people or funereal art, just a sampler of what you can see at the cemetery—enough to show why it is such a popular tourist destination.
I've included some very simple narration in the closed captions, but it's not very interesting. The actual audio in the video is sound from the cemetery—and the cemetery is very quiet most of the time, so you'll have to crank it if you want to hear anything (mostly wind in the trees).

1. Notre Dame
Towering Notre Dame Cathedral and its island home, the île de la Cite, are the visual crown of the historic heart of Paris. In 2013 the cathedral will celebrate its 850th birthday accompanied by nine newly cast bronze bells. Nearby is the Palais de Justice made famous during the French Revolution, the Conciergerie (where Marie Antoinette was imprisoned), the stained glass mastery of the church Saint Chapelle, the famous Pont Neuf Bridge, and the delightful residences and shops of the island Île de Sainte Louis.
2. Eiffel Tower
Visiting the stunning, world-famous Eiffel Tower and viewing the city from on high is considered by many the traditional right of passage when visiting Paris. Nearby are: the Palais de Chaillot and its museums, the Musée du Quai Branly (ethnography) and the Musée Marmottan Monet (an excellent art museum focused on the works of Monet).
3. Champs Elysées
This the romantic heart of Paris and one of the most popular streets for strolling and shopping while gazing at the monumental Arc de Triomphe. Seine River cruises are nearby. Click for more details on the many things to see and do on the Champs

4. The Louvre
Perhaps the most well-known and important of the world's museums, the Louvre has an incomparable collection of art (including the Mona Lisa), statuary and historic artifacts. The beautiful Tuilleries Gardens are nearby, as is the Orangerie that houses Monet's famous Water Lily paintings.
5. The Latin Quarter
Home of the Sorbonne, the Pantheon, the fabulous Museum of the Middle Ages and the Delacroix Museum, this is the historic, intellectual capital of Paris. The Luxembourg Gardens is a wonderful park in the middle of the city and nearby St. Germain-des-Prés is trendy shopping area full of interesting boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants. Da Vinci Code fans should be on the lookout of the church Saint-Sulpice in Saint Germain-des-Pres.
6. Invalides
The Saint Louis des Invalides church houses the final resting place of Napoleon I, and many other of France's military heroes. Nearby is the Musée d'Orsay, the grand museum of the Impressionists, as well as the Rodin Museum exhibiting many of the master's works.
7. The Marias
The Marais is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris and its Places des Vosges is a delightful 17th century residential square. The nearby Musée Picasso is a must see (it reopens in summer 2013), as is the Musée Carnavalet focused on the history of Paris. Les Halles ( a modern version of the historic markets of Paris), the amazing Pompidou Center and its modern art, as well as the Stately Hôtel de Ville, the City Hall of Paris are in close proximity. In addition, the Place de la Bastille is nearby, although there is not much to see of importance has survived the passage of time.
8. Montmartre
The scene for countless novels, movies and paintings, Montmartre is another of the popular destinations in Paris. See the famous church Sacre Couer, the artists at the Place du Tertre and, if you are a fan on the can-can, get reservations for the Moulin Rouge.
9. Central Paris
The Place de la Concorde and its famous obelisk was once the site of the guillotine and the executions of many of the royalty during the French Revolution. The Rue Saint-Honoré and the Place de la Madeline are prime shopping areas, as is the Place Vendome with it Grand Column celebrating the Napoleon. See also the beautiful Opéra Garnier as you head for more shopping at the Grand Magasins, including Printemps and the Galeries Lafayette.
10. Père Lachaise Cemetery
It is curious that one of the most interesting attractions in Paris is the Lachaise cemetery. This historic burial grounds is the final resting place of many notable luminaries and is a historical who's who of Paris, its history and the arts. Paris, France - Video Tour of the Bastille Neighborhood (Part 1)
Hello and welcome for another video tour of a fantastic Paris neighborhood by New York Habitat ( ).
In this video we are going to have a look at the area around La Bastille, which is located in the southeast of Paris, just beside the Marais. With its real Parisian feel, the Bastille has all kinds of unique hidden treasures.
This will be the first of a three-part series on this fantastic neighborhood.
The Place de la Bastille is the area where The Bastille, a formidable fortress on the eastern gate of Paris, was built in the 1300s.
After the revolution, the prison was dismantled and many of its study blocks went to the building of the Concorde Bridge. While the prison no longer exists, La Place de la Bastille is much a part of Parisian life. It's quite the busy traffic circle, so be careful crossing it!
The French Revolutionaries had one thing in mind: to do things differently. In that spirit, you should skip the hotel for your next trip to Paris. Booking a vacation rental in Paris will put you in touch with the real Paris, giving you an authentic experience you wouldn't get otherwise.

You can often get last minute tickets if you show up around 6-6:30 pm at the ticket office, which is found on the right of the main entrance.
If you love contemporary art and antiques, make sure you check out the massive bi-annual Joel Garcia Antique and Contemporary Art Fair held at Place de la Bastille and on both sides of the place de l'Arsenal.
The area east of Place de la Bastille is known as the Faubourg Saint Antoine. All along rue de Faubourg Saint Antoine and rue de Charonne you can find alleyways lined with workshops and catch glimpses of 19th century Paris.
There are two particularly interesting areas off Faubourg Saint Antoine. The first one is Passage du Chantier where you'll find numerous hidden furniture shops.
The other is the quaint Cour de l'Etoile d'Or.

‘Let’s Go’ to the City of Light and love — to explore the monument-lined boulevards, world-class cuisine, and art-enriched streets of Paris.
There’s a reason the storied, romantic city of Paris is one of the world’s most visited capitals. Tourists flock to see the classic architecture and the famous paintings in the Louvre, to eat at Michelin-starred restaurants and shop at chic boutiques, and to experience the wonder of religious structures like the intricate, majestic Notre-Dame cathedral — but to keep going back to Paris is only to find out there is always more to see. Each district carries rich and multicultural heritage, from the compact but incredible Cambodian and Laotian restaurants of the 13th arrondissement to the shtiebels of the Marais’ Jewish quarter to the long, cobbled halls populated with historical figures of the Père Lachaise cemetery in the 20th arrondissement.
Buy a baguette for under a euro and some classic Parisian butter, and wander the banks of the Seine, stopping every so often to peruse the wares of the bouquinistes, small vintage book-sellers that line the ‘only river in the world that runs between two bookshelves.' Sit on the steps in front of the white-domed Sacré-Cœur and watch as performers juggle footballs while climbing the lampposts, all with the entire cityscape spread out behind them. Walk down to explore the rest of Montmartre — stop in at once of the classic Parisian cafes for the plat du jour and a noisette, an espresso with a hazelnut-sized dollop of cream. You could go to Pigalle to experience the traditional “Paris by night,” or hit the best punk bar in town, hidden in the backstreets and alleys of the Bastille.
Or, visit any of the other incredible places captured by the BD team: Les Deux Plateaux, the Montparnasse Tower, the Jardin Du Palais, Belleville, Saint-Germain-Des-Prés, Metiers Metro Station and the Trocadero. Whatever you do, wear your rose-tinted glasses and comfortable shoes.

Saint-Malo is a port city in Brittany, in France's northwest. Tall granite walls surround the old town, which was once a stronghold for privateers (pirates approved by the king). The Saint-Malo Cathedral, in the center of the old town, is built in Romanesque and Gothic styles and features stained-glass windows depicting city history. Nearby is La Demeure de Corsaire, an 18th-century privateer’s house and museum.
Walking through the cobbled streets of St Malo’s old town feels like you’ve stepped back in time. This popular tourist destination and busy ferry port offers visitors an authentic glimpse into Brittany’s important seafaring past. Once the feared base of pirates (corsairs), heavily fortified against Norman (or English) attack, today's Saint-Malo is one of the top tourist draws in Brittany. The star of the show is the atmospheric walled city (intramuros), largely destroyed in the Second World War but painstakingly reconstructed. The modern towns of Parame and Saint-Servan lie outside the walls. It is also the birth place of renowned French explorer Jacques Cartier who is famous for exploring Quebec.
Saint-Malo has a good bus system, with the main terminals located at the train station and just outside the walls(St Vincent). Get a booklet with maps and times from any bus driver. A one and a half hour ticket costs €1.15. Unfortunately there are no bus services late in the evening. The walled city is easily covered on foot, but you can also opt for a dinky Tourist Train that takes you and your wallet for a ride (€5.50).
