Plage de Saleccia in Santo-Pietro-di-Tenda, France
Hard to imagine that this is where scenes for the film “The Longest Day” were shot in 1962...
Saleccia does not resemble a battlefield at all, quite the opposite.
It may be a bit less perfect than the beach of Loto, but this one-kilometre long beach is more natural.
Its dunes and marvellous Aleppo pines (shade!) are under the protection of the Coastal Conservatory and make it appear all the more natural and unspoilt.
There are also fewer tourists than elsewhere : boats from St-Florent only come here during high season, and often the last stretch from Loto to Saleccia has to be done on foot ...
Saleccia Beach in St Florent is located in the Agriates desert a few kilometres west of Loto Beach. The environment of this beautiful beach is composed of 1 km of white sand with a fragrant scrubland on the border and Corsican pines. To complete this picture postcard, there are often Corsican cows along this beach taking a nap.
This beach is accessible from Loto Beach through the coastal path (about 4km, 55 minutes). One can also cut through the bush by following these directions (one saves 10 minutes). From the platform of Lotto Beach, turn left then right onto the steep trail. Continue on the trail through the bush. Turn right when you reach an intersection with ruined stone huts. At the campsite, turn right at the end of the beach. The ride is very pleasant with the chirping of cicadas.
It is advisable to take water and a picnic. Nevertheless, there is a small snack at the campsite (300 meters at the western end of the beach). Like us and Join us at Xtreme Collections for more fun and knowledge.
