Shchyokinsky District is an administrative district , one of the twenty-three in Tula Oblast, Russia. Within the framework of municipal divisions, it is incorporated as Shchyokinsky Municipal District. It is located in the center of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,393.4 square kilometers . Its administrative center is the town of Shchyokino. Population: 106,595 ; 43,064 ; 48,434 . The population of the administrative center accounts for 54.5% of the district's total population.

    Yasnaya Polyana is a writer's house museum, the former home of the writer Leo Tolstoy. It is 12 kilometres southwest of Tula, Russia, and 200 kilometres from Moscow.Tolstoy was born in the house, where he wrote both War and Peace and Anna Karenina. He is buried nearby. Tolstoy called Yasnaya Polyana his inaccessible literary stronghold.In June 1921, the estate was nationalized and formally became his memorial museum. It was at first run by Alexandra Tolstaya, the writer's daughter. The current director of the museum is Tolstoy's great-great-grandson Vladimir Tolstoy.     Kulikovo Field is a field in Tula Oblast in Russia where the Battle of Kulikovo took place on September 8, 1380 and was won by Dmitri, who became known as Donskoy after the battle. As established by Stepan Nechayev, the battlefield is located between the rivers of Nepryadva, Krasivaya Mecha, and Don some 140 km away from Tula and 23 km away from the Kulikovo Pole railway station. Today, Kulikovo Field is home to a museum complex which includes a 28-metre high column on the Red Hill built between 1848 and 1850, and a memorial church in honour of Sergius of Radonezh that is now the Kulikovo Field Museum.
