Shijiazhuang is the capital and largest city of North China's Hebei Province. Administratively a prefecture-level city, it is about 266 kilometres southwest of Beijing, and it administers eight districts, two county-level cities, and 12 counties. As of 2015 it had a total population of 10,701,600 with 4,303,700 in the central area comprising the seven districts and the county of Zhengding largely conurbated with the Shijiazhuang metropolitan area as urbanization continues to proliferate. The Anji Bridge is the world's oldest open-spandrel segmental arch bridge of stone construction. Credited to the design of a craftsman named Li Chun, the bridge was constructed in the years 595-605 during the Sui dynasty . Located in the southern part of Hebei Province, it is the oldest standing bridge in China.

CHINA VLOG 1 | Baodu Zhai Mountain | Shijiazhuang Hidden Gem

Baodu Zhai Scenic Area is located West of the city center of Shijaizhuang and is one of the many hidden gems the city has to offer.

HOW TO GET THERE

Baodu Zhai Scenic Area is 16km from Shijiazhuang City. The easiest way to get there is via Taxi or Didi (Chinese Uber). Just show your taxi driver the Chinese name for the area on your phone or if you're using didi just search Baodu Zhai Scenic Area. It will take 30-40 minutes depending on traffic and it should cost around 45RMB. You can also take the bus to the scenic area. Make sure to get onto bus 1 and head West. The bus shouldn't cost more than 3RMB.

ENTRANCE FEE

It is possible to walk to the top of the mountain but we're lazy so we took the cable car. The cable car is 40RMB one way. You can purchase the ticket to go up at the tourist information center and you can get your ticket to come down from the ticket office next to the cable car entrance at the top of the mountain. In order to enter the scenic area you have to purchase an additional ticket. Before climbing the stairs to the entrance gate be sure to purchase your ticket first. The entrance ticket should be around 65RMB, depending on the time of the year.

THINGS TO SEE

Baodu Zhai is an ancient village with a wall built around it. This wall looks very similar to the Great Wall. On top of the mountain there are also 2 caves to explore, an ancient palace and a Buddhist temple with 500 stone Buddha's inside.
