Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is an attraction in Shanghai that you do not want to miss it is located adjacent to the famous Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Jinmao Tower. One of the largest ocean aquariums in the world, it has the world's longest submarine viewing tunnel measuring 155-meter (about 170 yards) in length. The aquarium has a total built in area of 20,500 square meters. There are different exhibition zones: China Zone, South America Zone, Australia Zone, Africa Zone, Southeast Asia , Cold Water Zone, Polar Zone, Sea and Shore, Deep Ocean Zone and Special Exhibitions. You can go along an underwater journey that starts from China and continues throughout the major continents and regions of the world. The exhibits include more than 300 types and 15,000 water creatures and rare fishes, such as poison dart frogs, jellyfishes, moonfish, leafy sea dragons and emperor penguins. Each zone in the aquarium is specially designed to recreate the most natural surroundings for aquatic animals, and also to enable you to experience and admire the uniqueness of every region around the world.
Currently, this is the only aquarium in the world to have a China Zone. This zone specializes in exhibiting aquatic organisms and ecology of the Yangtze valley as well as some endangered aquatic species in China. Most creatures in this zone are under national protection such as the Chinese sturgeon, mullet, Yangtze alligator and giant salamander.
The main highlights from these various zones include the Electric Eels, Spotted seals, Weedy Seadragons, Jellyfish, Sand Tiger Sharks... and many more! The Ocean Aquarium also displays the geography and culture of their native places by pictures, voices, etc.
The daily operating hours for the aquarium are from 9am to 6pm, though the aquarium is open until 9pm in July and August. The ticket prices as of August 2015 is 160RMB for adults and 110 RMB for children. Also as a tourist try to avoid the crowd and visit during a weekday as weekends can get a bit crowded.
Overall the aquarium provides visitors with a tour covering the world's five Continents and four Oceans. The fascinating exhibits and interactive programs, you have both entertainment and education. No matter what age you are if the ocean fascinates you then it is a must visit attraction in Shanghai.

It is located on a small island on the Lotus sea and is the most sacred Buddhist place on earth and is referred to as a Buddhist kingdom amidst the sea and sky. Millions of people journey here every year in search of enlightenment and is the sole place where Kwan-yin rites are performed.
