Back Bay Loop (Newport Beach, CA) Review
A lovely loop used for hiking, cycling and even horse-riding, very mellow. Most of the trail is on concrete and moments walking next to the streets. There are lots of enjoyable views and nature spots.
*Free to park.
Hikers: Han, Nick, and Mike
Distance: 11 miles round trip
Estimated round trip time: 3 hours
Our difficulty rating: G
Notes: We noticed lots of dog and horse poo on the dirt paths, so watch where you step.

The Off-Road Trails of Big Bear Lake
A lot of people don’t expect to find alpine scenery when they come to Southern California, but the Inland Empire’s Big Bear area abounds with it. Located at about 6,700-feet/2,000-meter elevation, Big Bear Lake and its surrounding peaks offer all-season fun, from winter sports at Big Bear Mountain and Snow Summit to hiking, cycling, water sports, and helicopter rides during the summer. There are even some unexpected attractions nearby (like bald eagles and Himalayan cuisine) as well as good wine tasting.

Bridge To Nowhere (Azusa, CA) Review
Bridge To Nowhere is a very casual hike with large parts of shade and manageable terrain, which has made it a very popular hike to do. The trail begins with large paths that are easy to follow. As you get closer to the middle of the hike you will be crossing the river, so prepare to get your feet wet. Bring hiking boots or water shoes and a towel. You cross the river between 4 to 6 times. There will be multiple ways to get to the bridge and if you feel lost just follow along the river until see the trail open up again. On land there are some yucca plants that can poke you, most are cut, so be mindful. Once on the bridge, you can hang out and watch as people bungee jump thanks to Bungee America. If you are looking to cool off there is a small and steep trail past the bridge where you can relax in the
water, where many enjoy a picnic.
*Adventure pass for parking.
Distance: 10 miles round trip
Elevation gain: 900 feet
Estimated round trip time: 3 - 4 hours
Hikers: Han, Nick, Matt, and Mike
Our difficulty rating: G
Notes: The trail is dog friendly. Bring shoes you plan on getting wet and a towel to dry your feet.

Giracci Vineyards & Farms: Orange County's Best Kept Secret for Wine, Events and Equestrian Services
Located just east of the hustle and bustle of central Orange County, Giracci Vineyards & Farms spans 10 acres and offers wine enthusiasts and nature lovers a unique variety of experiences, from contemporary wine tasting to an insider glimpse of the equestrian life style, all in the ambient atmosphere of Santiago Canyon.
Chad and Linda Kearns rescued Giracci Vineyards & Farms from disrepair five years ago, knowing right away that they had found a diamond in the rough. After three years of modernizing the facilities while carefully maintaining the structural integrity and historical ambiance that makes the property unique and a great deal of tender loving care, Giracci is finally ready to be enjoyed by everyone. Surrounded by plush, scenic landscaping, the newly-renovated grounds offer an abundance of country elegance, with a dash of history and a touch of rustic charm, creating a tranquil, magical environment for all.
Most people believe that Orange County began as an agricultural center, focused around the growth of Oranges‚ but that is only partially true. While Orange County did begin as a center of agriculture, grapes were the origin of the county. Around 1855, a group of German immigrants settled Northern Orange County and quickly turned it into what was then California‚ wine capital! Within just 10 years, there were over 47 wineries and scores of vineyards. Madame Modjeska founded many local vineyards and wineries right in our backyard (the vineyards were prosperous, until the arrival of the glassy winged sharpshooter). Now, with the newfound knowledge of the times, Giracci has taken the Silverado area back to its illustrious roots.
Nestled in Santiago Canyon with its dramatic, panoramic view and etched canyons, just east of beautiful Lake Irvine, Giracci offers a full variety of services, including wine tasting, a wine club, a special events venue and a fully equipped, state-of-the-art equestrian boarding and training facility.
From North Orange County: Take Highway 55 to E Chapman Ave. Continue straight for 16.8 Miles (will turn into Santiago Cnyn Rd after 4.2 Miles). Turn Left onto Jackson Ranch Road and Turn Left into the first driveway.
From South Orange County: Take El Toro Road north until it becomes Santiago Canyon Road. Continue past Trabucco Canyon and Modjeska Canyon turnoffs. Turn right at Jackson Ranch Road and left into the first driveway.
