Weifang (simplified Chinese: 潍坊; traditional Chinese: 濰坊; pinyin: Wéifāng) is a prefecture-level city in central Shandong province, People's Republic of China. The city borders Dongying to the northwest, Zibo to the west, Linyi to the southwest, Rizhao to the south, Qingdao to the east, and looks out to the Laizhou Bay to the north. Its population was 9,086,241 at the 2010 census, of whom 2,659,938 lived in the built-up (or metro) area made up of 4 urban districts (Kuiwen, Weicheng, Hanting and Fangzi) and Changle County largely being urbanized.
Weifang has numerous natural and historic sites, such as Shihu Garden (from the Late Ming and early Qing Dynasty), Fangong Pavilion (from the Song Dynasty), fossil sites (including dinosaur fossils, in Shanwang, Linqu), Mount Yi National Forest Park, Mount Qingyun and the Old Dragon Spring. Painted New Year woodcuts from Yangjiabu are also well known. The city was served by Weifang Airport to various cities across China.

Well, the water here in Miyun Reservoir, well during the drought these past few years, the water was really low. Back in the beginning there was about three billion cubic litres of water. At the worst there wasn't even one billion cubic litres. These last couple years they've been bringing water in from other places to here.

So the water resources of these areas should really be used in a way that benefits the residents. So if you are to take away the water in the name of the Olympics - then I think it is a water rights issue. But right now, many citizens have been caught up in the Olympics because it has been made into such a big issue, so they are ignoring it. But these issues will well up after the Olympics are over. This could be a social crisis. This is an issue we should watch carefully.

STORYLINE:
Beijing looks ready to welcome the Olympics this summer, with new green and lush parks created specifically for the Games in August.
However, some say the Chinese capital is taking too much water, from nearby regions, in particular Hebei province, which is already chronically starved of water.
Preparations for the 2008 Olympics are nearly complete - and the city is intent on looking lush and vibrant.
The region has had eight years of continuous drought.

Game: Nine years after a botched robbery in Ludendorff, North Yankton that left two of his accomplices dead and forced a third into hiding, former bank robber Michael Townley has been placed under witness protection with his family in Los Santos, San Andreas, using the pseudonym Michael De Santa. Franklin Clinton, who works as a repo man for a car dealership alongside his friend Lamar Davis, is asked to reclaim a car from Michael's teenage son, Jimmy, who is overdue on his loan payment. Correctly deducing that his son is about to become a victim of credit fraud, Michael confronts Franklin and orders him to crash the car through the dealership. Franklin is fired, but he and Michael become friends. When Michael discovers his wife Amanda in bed with her tennis coach, he and Franklin chase the man to a mansion, which Michael destroys out of anger. However, the mansion belongs to Mexican drug lord Martin Madrazo, who demands compensation. They acquiesce, paying their debt with Madrazo using money earned from a jewellery shop heist. Trevor Philips, the only other survivor of the Ludendorff robbery, hears about the heist and, realising that the perpetrator could be no other than Michael himself, reunites with his former partner after tracking him down to Los Santos.
Meanwhile, the personal lives of the protagonists begin to spiral out of control. Trevor's unexpected reappearance triggers reckless and erratic behaviour from Michael, which prompts his family to leave. Michael's attempts to make something of himself bring him into conflict with Devin Weston, a self-made billionaire venture capitalist and corporate raider who develops a grudge against him and vows revenge. Franklin is disturbed by the way Lamar falls under the influence of Harold Stretch Joseph, a gangster who defected to a rival gang in prison and repeatedly attempts to kill Lamar to prove himself to his new brethren. Trevor's efforts to consolidate his control over the methamphetamine market in Blaine County see him waging war against the San Andreas chapter of The Lost outlaw motorcycle club, a number of Latin American street gangs, rival meth dealers, government-sponsored mercenaries and a Triad led by Wei Chang, one of the most senior figures in the Chinese criminal underworld.
Over the course of the story, Michael is forced by FIB agents Dave Norton and Steve Haines to perform a series of operations with Franklin and Trevor with the objective of undermining a rival agency, the IAA. Under Haines' direction, they attack an armoured convoy carrying funds intended for the IAA and raid a bank containing the payroll for all of the corrupt police and public officials in Los Santos, but Michael and Trevor are forced to temporarily hide in Blaine County after they perform a job for Madrazo and demanding compensation, Trevor kidnaps his wife. As Haines comes under increasing scrutiny for his methods, he forces them to infiltrate the FIB headquarters and erase any evidence being used against him from their servers. Michael takes the opportunity to wipe any data on his own activities in the process, destroying Haines' leverage over him. After convincing Trevor to return Madrazo's wife, they start making plans for their most daring feat ever: raiding the gold bullion reserve from the Union Depository.
After returning to Los Santos, Michael makes amends with his family and they start living together again. Trevor, however, discovers that a former accomplice of them was killed during the Ludendorff heist and is not in prison as he was led to believe, but was buried at the grave that was meant for Michael instead. Trevor feels betrayed by Michael, causing friction within the group and threatening to undermine their plans for the Union Depository. When Michael and Agent Norton are caught in a Mexican stand-off between the FIB, IAA and private security firm Merryweather, Trevor aids in their escape claiming that only he has the right of killing Michael. Despite not forgiving Michael, Trevor agrees to part ways with him after they perform the Union Depository heist as planned.
The trio carry out the Union Depository heist, which is a success, but Franklin ends up being pressured by Haines to kill Trevor and by Devin Weston to kill Michael. Franklin has three options: to kill Trevor, kill Michael, or let them live and face their enemies. Should Franklin kill either Michael or Trevor, he ceases contact with the survivor and returns to his old life. Alternatively, if he kills neither, the trio joins forces to withstand an onslaught from the FIB and Merryweather before going on to kill Stretch, Wei Chang, Haines and Weston. With all their enemies disposed, the three agree to cease working together, but remain friends.[27]
Henan Petitioner Accused of Killing Police Beaten Blind

Petitioners Mr. Xu Youchen and Ms. Zhang Xiaoyu are a
married couple who are being accused of killing a policeman.
On July 25, they were finally able to meet with a lawyer.
Their lawyer Li Jinxing posted on Sina Weibo, China's Twitter,
saying the couple was brutally beaten by police,
leaving Xu black and blue and Zhang blinded.
That night, several lawyers involvement in the case went
to Zhengzhou and prepared to sue the Henan Procuratorate
and Henan Public Security Bureau.
Zhang and Xu are from Jiaozuo City, Henan province.
When they went to Beijing to petition on July 17,
they were soon taken back to their city by local police
and were accused of killing a policeman.
There has been no case details or evidence except for the
accusation by the local police that the couple killed an officer.
Chinese lawyers and netizens are questioning the case.
Beijing Citizen Detained Because of a microblog Post
Beijing citizen Liu Yue was detained by the police on July 25
because of a post on his Tencent microblog account.
Chinese Human Rights Defenders reports that Liu posted
on his Tencent microblog about several dozen workers
suffering from serious lung disease due to working
in coal mines in Beijing's Fangshan district.
He says they went, huffing and puffing and carrying oxygen
bags, from Hebei's Leping city to Longhua, Weichang,
and other cities all the way to the Zhengzhou Third Detention
Center to support the support the Ten Noblemen movement.
On July 24, Liu was thus summoned by the Zhoukou police
station in Beijing's Fangshan district.
On July 25, he was detained on charges of causing trouble.
The police station told Liu's wife
that his charges were given from above.

Dozens of People are Arrested
Incidents similar to the demolition of Christian crosses
in Zhejiang have spread from Wenzhou to Taizhou.
On July 25, two crosses of Chengguan Church in
Taizhou's Wenling city were demolished.
Among hundreds of Christians who tried to guard the church,
40 were arrested and some were hospitalized.
It's said that Chengguan Church is the largest church in
Wenling City and the first in the area to have a cross removed.
It has more than 4,000 parishioners.

Shandong (山东; formerly romanised as Shantung) is a coastal province of the People's Republic of China, and is part of the East China region.
Shandong has played a major role in Chinese history from the beginning of Chinese civilization along the lower reaches of the Yellow River and served as a pivotal cultural and religious site for Taoism, Chinese Buddhism, and Confucianism. Shandong's Mount Tai is the most revered mountain of Taoism and one of the world's sites with the longest history of continuous religious worship. The Buddhist temples in the mountains to the south of the provincial capital of Jinan were once among the foremost Buddhist sites in China. The city of Qufu is the birthplace of Confucius, and was later established as the center of Confucianism.
Shandong's location at the intersection of ancient as well as modern north–south and east–west trading routes have helped to establish it as an economic center. After a period of political instability and economic hardship that began in the late 19th century, Shandong has emerged as one of the most populous (95,793,065 inhabitants at the 2010 Census) and most affluent provinces in the People's Republic of China with a GDP of CNY¥5.942 trillion in 2014, or USD$967 billion, making it China's third wealthiest province.
