The Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site is the site of a pre-Columbian Native American city directly across the Mississippi River from modern St. Louis, Missouri. This historic park lies in southern Illinois between East St. Louis and Collinsville. The park covers 2,200 acres , or about 3.5 square miles , and contains about 80 mounds, but the ancient city was much larger. In its heyday, Cahokia covered about 6 square miles and included about 120 manmade earthen mounds in a wide range of sizes, shapes, and functions.Cahokia was the largest and most influential urban settlement of the Mississippian culture, which developed advanced societies across much of what is now the central and southeastern United States, beginning more than 1,000 years before European contact. Mark Twain Cave — originally McDowell's Cave — is a show cave located near Hannibal, Missouri, U.S.. It is the oldest operating show cave in the state, giving tours continuously since 1886. Along with nearby Cameron Cave, it became a registered National Natural Landmark in 1972, with a citation reading Exceptionally good examples of the maze type of cavern development. The cave — as McDougal's Cave — plays an important role in the novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain and was renamed in honor of the author, a Hannibal native.

Meramec Caverns is the collective name for a 4.6-mile cavern system in the Ozarks, near Stanton, Missouri. The caverns were formed from the erosion of large limestone deposits over millions of years. Pre-Columbian Native American artifacts have been found in the caverns. Currently the cavern system is a tourist attraction, with more than fifty billboards along Interstate 44 and is considered one of the primary attractions along former U.S. Highway 66. Meramec Caverns is the most-visited cave in Missouri with some 150,000 visitors annually. Meramec Caverns is ranked #178 on CaverBob.com's USA Long Cave list.

Bad Drivers of St. Louis - 1

Remember that dash cam I reviewed a few months back? Well, I've been trying to pull footage of bad drivers, accidents, and other interesting stuff off of it every chance I get. Unfortunately, I've had extensive car trouble since the beginning of the year (now solved), so my car hasn't been out on the road much. This is all I've caught so far.

Indianapolis, IN 2014 | 14 of 17 | Vandaila, IL to St Louis, MO

This segment picks up just West of Vandaila heading towards Pocahontas where I'll change out my Micro SD card and use the Men's room. Back on I-70 we'll pass East St. Louis and rather then to take the Poplar St. Bridge, we'll cruse over the brand new Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge into Missouri. The segment ends on a urban segment of I-70 between highways U and N in St. Louis.
