Castle -- Watchtower, Yunquera, Sierra de las Nieves (Málaga)
Standing some 500 metres from the village centre, this conical, almost cylindrical tower is popularly known as El Castillo and appears in the register of Items of Cultural Interest in Spain's Historical Patrimony.
Now completely rebuilt and refurbished for use as a reception centre for visitors to the Parque Natural Sierra de las Nieves.

El término municipal de Ojén entre Sierra Alpujata y Sierra Blanca, es un rincón de gran belleza natural. El pueblo, conserva su fisonomía de casas escalonadas en la ladera que denotan su origen árabe, y en conjunto está considerado como uno de los pueblos más bonitos de la provincia.
Istán guarda en su trazado urbano la memoria de su pasado andalusí, calles estrechas y empinadas con casas de fachadas encaladas y rematadas por una cubierta de teja árabe, que donde mejor se deja sentir es en la parte alta del pueblo, donde aún se conserva parte de una torre de la antigua fortaleza árabe. Su término municipal forma parte del P. N. de la Sierra de Las Nieves, declarado por la Unesco Reserva de la Biosfera.

monteaventura.com. Istán est une des nombreux villages d'origine mauresque. Rues étroites sont et inadaptée à l'automobile. La seule manière raisonnable de l'expérience est à pied. Mais au moins il y en a, et le village a toujours l'air intemporel qui des étrangers trouve si attrayant. Le villageois du Istan son bonnes personnes, gens sympas, affectueux et attachant.
