SOLO TRUCK CAMPING | THE TRIP (Ep.1) — Jacksonville and Calhoun Falls State Park
This is going to be one of the craziest trips of my life! A 20-day, 3,500+ mile road trip, leaving from Tampa Bay, FL, where I will be solo camping using my Napier Truck Tent in seven state or national parks in seven different states on my way up to visit friends in Boston, MA. Join me on this journey as I explore and fish these amazing places!
In this episode, I begin my journey by leaving my house in Tampa Bay, FL and heading toward Jacksonville, FL. I spent the night in a hotel and left right after I completed an interview. From there I headed to my first campsite at Calhoun Falls State Park, SC. I stayed two nights at site 28 ($29.16/night) where I explored and fished around the park and Lake Russel.

Exploring Talladega National Forest: Hiking Payne Lake Recreation Area
Most people associate Mt. Cheaha and the Pinhoti Trail with the Talladega National Forest. However, hidden in west Alabama is the Oakmulgee District, with one lone recreation area: Payne Lake. A quiet place to camp, with both primitive and water/power hookups, the lake is a popular fishing spot, for both anglers and bald eagles that nest here. Alligators also call the area home, as do mink and beavers. Two trails encircle the lake, leading through a swampy area, and across rolling hills of mature longleaf pines to a point overlooking the lake. Ferns and springs are numerous, as are wildflowers in late spring. Located about an hour's drive from Birmingham, and half an hour from Tuscaloosa, this is the perfect quiet getaway, or a base camp to explore other nearby gems such as Moundville Archaeological Park, or Perry Lakes Park.

I want you hear the rush of the water, the swaying of branches, bird songs, the crunch beneath each step. Those things provide far more information than long form narration could ever provide. I post detailed write-ups on my blog:

Beech Bluff Hiking Trail | 2017 | Lake Hartwell State Park | South Carolina | USA
In this vlog we are hiking the Beech Bluff trail at Lake Hartwell State Park in South Carolina, USA.
The Beech Bluff trail is an easy 0.7 one way hike. If you get to the end and take the road it is 1.2 miles.
This is a short and hilly trail. We ended up doing the 0.7 one way out and back direction. We also stopped and checked out the lake. There are small access points from the main trail to the beach. Some people brought camp chairs with them. The lake seems mostly used by boats and not for swimming - although several kids were in the water.

Places to see in ( Columbia - USA )
Columbia is the capital city of South Carolina. It’s home to the South Carolina State House, a Greek Revival building set in gardens dotted with monuments. Riverbanks Zoo & Garden is a huge park with animal enclosures and botanical gardens. A diverse collection spanning centuries is on display at the Columbia Museum of Art. Dating to 1823, the Robert Mills House is a mansion and museum surrounded by ornate gardens.
The city is located approximately 13 miles (21 km) northwest of the geographic center of South Carolina, and is the primary city of the Midlands region of the state. It lies at the confluence of the Saluda River and the Broad River, which merge at Columbia to form the Congaree River. Columbia is home to the University of South Carolina, the state's flagship university and the largest in the state, and is also the site of Fort Jackson, the largest United States Army installation for Basic Combat Training. Columbia is also located 20 miles west of the site of McEntire Joint National Guard Base, which is operated by the U.S. Air Force and is used as a training base for the 169th Fighter Wing of The South Carolina Air National Guard. Columbia is also the location of the South Carolina State House, which is the center of government for the state. In 1860, the city was the location of the South Carolina Secession Convention, which marked the departure of the first state from the Union in the events leading up to the Civil War.
