Die Burg ist die beste erhaltene Mittelalterburg im Vogland.Kaiser Karl IV besuchte 1347 die Burg und gab Mylau das Stadtrecht.Er und auch seine beiden Söhne bauten die Burg weiter aus.1400 wurden teile der Burg zerstört.Beim Wiederaufbau endstanden zwei mächtige Vorburgen.1422 ging sie aus Dank für geleistete Dienste an den Kurfürsten von Sachsen.Heute ist dort ein Museum über Geologie und Bergbau der Region und Geschichte der Burg.

Jh., wo Gaukler, Feuerspucker und Rittersleut ihr Unwesen treiben und die Besucher in eine andere, längst vergessene Zeit versetzen.
