Piediluco is a fraction of the municipality of Terni ( TR ). Located at 375 m asl, the village is inhabited by 523 residents. It rises on the banks of the homonymous lake that feeds, together with the waters of the Velino river , the Marmore waterfall. Since 2016 it is part of the club of the most beautiful villages in Italy
Archaeological excavations in the area have allowed to find remains of settlements dating back to the late Bronze Age . Later it was conquered by the Sabines and, from the middle of the III century BC , it passed to the Romans. In a 1028 document mention is made of the Castello de Luco (on the top of the Rocca mountain, from the Latin lucus , sacred forest ) and the curtem de Postro (on the lake shore), as a possession of that Bernardo D'Arrone, feudal lord of the place, which grants it to the monks of the Abbey of Farfa . The Fortress was characterized by a keep with a quadrangular tower, of which only the remains are left. At the bottom there was a small village, in the area called the Colle .
Lago di Piediluco is a lake that straddles the border between the Province of Terni, Umbria, Italy and the Province of Rieti, Lazio. At an elevation of 375 m, its surface area is 1.58 km². The lake is formed by the inflow of water from three sources: the Rio Fuscello, the Velino river and the Nera river.
The flow from the Rio Fuscello is naturally occurring, while the flows from the Nera and Velino rivers are each influenced in some part due to man-made means. A partial diversion of the Nera in the Nera river valley (Valnerina) conducts the flow via a lengthy aqueduct and canal system built in the 1920s during the fascist regime of Benito Mussolini, entering the lake at the northwestern end of the village of Piediluco, near the entrance to the town from the Via Ternana SS79 motorway. A canal of approximately 400 meters' length was built, also in the 1920s, to divert the Velino river from its existing natural course into the lake. The purpose of this work was to improve hydroelectric power production.
At one time the lake was part of a much larger lake, known from Roman times as Lacus Velinus or Lake Velino. Lake Piediluco was formed as a result of cuts downstream from the lake that drained the waters of Lake Velino into the lower Nera River, which also created the Cascata delle Marmore waterfall. Lake Piediluco is the site of the Italian National Rowing Center, which hosts many training and competition events at the national, European, and international level. The lake is ideal for the sport due to its shape, central geographical location, and the relatively calm winds.

FOR SALE: This is a medieval mountain village with 280 degree views of the dramatic, green Ferentillo Valley below where many small towns and 3 castles can easily be seen. The roads are all paved. 1 hr. north of Rome, Italy.
In the central part of the city, we have 3 apartments combined together as one, but they can be divided again to make 2-3 individual apartments.
The total is about 2300 SF for 3 apartments connected as one, or they can easily be made into individual apartments. . There are 2 fireplaces.
Each room has a window that looks at the Ferentillo Valley with its 3 castles. I also have a large cellar and underlying terrain. City gas in installed just outside the apartment waiting to be brought inside.
These have a total of 9 rooms and lounges. The kitchen, modern design was installed new in 1991.
7 of 9 rooms have been partially restored or partially restructured but still need work.
At the top of the village we own a 3-story house in the shape of a triangle. It is very small and not renovated. It has a rooftop terrace. With views of 2 valleys.
This main property is on 3 levels at times and 2 levels at other times.

La chiesa di S.Michele Arcangelo a Rocca Pitigliana (BO) Phantom 3 Pro
Diversi storici hanno parlato dell’esistenza, a Rocca Pitigliana, di un castello, del quale purtroppo non resta più alcuna traccia; sua peculiarità erano le gallerie nella roccia, ancora visibili, che conducevano all’interno della fortezza.
Di grande interesse è la chiesa parrocchiale, dedicata a San Michele Arcangelo, che viene ricordata nel 1235, mentre l’attuale risale al 1502 con rifacimenti nel 1695.
Chiesa e campanile fanno corpo unico con un rilievo roccioso, il che conferisce al complesso caratteri di grande suggestione. L’interno, a cui si può accedere anche attraverso un passaggio sul lato destro scavato nella roccia, è ad unica navata con cappelle; interessante è il dipinto del santo titolare posto nell’abside e ritenuto opera di scuola reniana.
A poca distanza si può ammirare la casa-torre di Montefrasco (secoli XV- XVI), recentemente restaurata.

Sea Kayaking - Viaggiare per mare nel modo più ecologico
Grazie ad un'idea di collaborazione del polistrumentista Nino Macaluso, che ha lanciato il suo brano Mbira, ho realizzato con enorme piacere questo video che raccoglie diversi spezzoni in giro per l'Italia (Sicilia, Sardegna, Puglia, Calabria, vari Laghi del nord Italia) con il suo brano come colonna sonora.
Il video vuole presentare il mondo del kayak a chi non lo conosce o lo conosce poco attraverso i luoghi visitati. A livello lacustre e marino non esiste nessun altro natante che può contemporaneamente navigare:
- in completa autonomia anche per diverse settimane/mesi
- navigare anche a pochi metri dalla costa
- affrontare in sicurezza anche condizione di mare formato
- senza inquinare
- senza far rumore
- nel caso di ribaltamento riuscire a raddrizzare la barca rimanendo al proprio interno
- percorrendo diverse decine di chilometri al giorno
L'emozioni provate nei viaggi in kayak in autosufficienza, vivendo tra la battigia e il mare per più giorni, non possono che lasciare in noi dei ricordi indelebili.

P.S.: anche se nel video a volte vengono mostrati i kayaker senza il giubbotto di aiuto al galleggiamento, sarebbe sempre buona norma indossarlo.
