Keilor is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 18 km north-west of Melbourne's central business district. Its local government areas are the Cities of Brimbank and Hume. The 121-hectare protected area was established with the focus on conservation of the native flora and fauna, and preservation of the geological features in the Jacksons Creek, a part of the Maribyrnong valley, north-west of Melbourne. It is situated in a deep gorge in the grassy, basalt Keilor plains.Within Organ Pipes National Park, the valley walls of Jacksons Creek expose Pleistocene volcanic rocks of the New Volcanic Group. These 2.5 to 2.8 million year-old basalt lavas, commonly known as trap rock, fractured during cooling into vertically standing, hexagonal basalt columns. Calder Highway is a highway in Australia, linking Melbourne in Victoria, to Bendigo and Mildura and the Victoria/New South Wales border on the way to Broken Hill. It continues through New South Wales to Broken Hill, Tibooburra and the New South Wales/Queensland border as the Silver City Highway, posted as route B79 as far as Broken Hill.The highway is called the Calder Freeway south of Bendigo where it has been upgraded to freeway-standard, superseding sections of the original Calder Highway. It has been extended in phases from the southern end to Ravenswood South subsuming the older Calder Highway stretches. The Victorian Government completed the duplication of the Calder Highway from Melbourne to Bendigo to freeway conditions on 20 April 2009.

The Dandenong Ranges are a set of low mountain ranges, rising to 633 metres at Mount Dandenong, approximately 35 km east of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The ranges consist mostly of rolling hills, steeply weathered valleys and gullies covered in thick temperate rainforest, predominantly of tall Mountain Ash trees and dense ferny undergrowth. After European settlement in the region, the range was used as a major source of timber for Melbourne. The ranges were popular with day-trippers from the 1870s onwards. It was named in 1802 after the British politician and colonial administrator Sir Evan Nepean by John Murray in HMS Lady Nelson. HSP - HALAL SNACK PACK - Melbourne street food invention - Australian food tour

In this episode of The Hunger Fixer's food tour of Melbourne we try an iconic Melbourne food invention, a late night snack called HSP or Halal Snack Pack.

We try Smith Kebab's in Fitroy, for their awesome HSP, one of the largest Halal Snack Packs sold in the area.

There is an option of Lamb Or Chicken or Mixed HSP, and we chose the mixed HSP to taste both the Lamb and Chicken combined.

The result was one of the best HSP I've had for a long time. The chips were hot, crispy and fresh while the sliced rotisserie meats were well marinated which was full of

flavour and saturated the chips underneath.

The trip started with the inland route via the Hume/Newell Highway, cutting across to the coastal route after Parkes via the Oxley Highway, then up to Brisbane via the Pacific Highway.

Close clear-air lightning bolt! - Darwin Australia

This massive clear air bolt (cloud-to-ground lightning bolt) hit about 200-250m away from our location. Here in Darwin, Australia these bolts can leap 15-20km away from the main storm striking a dry area surrounding the storm. You don't see me in the frame for good reason as I was in my car! :P :O
