King's Lynn, known until 1537 as Bishop's Lynn, is a seaport and market town in Norfolk, England, about 98 miles north of London, 36 miles north-east of Peterborough, 44 miles north north-east of Cambridge and 44 miles west of Norwich. The population of the town is 42,800. Its two theatres , three museums , several other cultural and sporting venues, along with three secondary schools and one college, make it a cultural and educational centre.

Dersingham is a village, civil parish and electoral ward in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated some 12 kilometres north of the town of King's Lynn and 70 km north-west of the city of Norwich, opening onto the Wash. The civil parish has an area of 14.5 km2 and in the 2001 census had a population of 4,502 in 2,110 households, the population increasing to 4,640 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. Sandringham House, a favoured holiday home of Queen Elizabeth and several of her predecessors, lies just to the south of Dersingham in the parish of Sandringham. King's Lynn, known until 1537 as Bishop's Lynn, is a seaport and market town in Norfolk, England, about 97 miles north of London and 44 miles west of Norwich.

King's Lynn has two theatres, museums and other cultural and sporting venues. There are three secondary schools and one college. The service sector, information and communication technologies and creative industries, provide employment for the population of King's Lynn and the surrounding area.

King's Lynn is the northernmost settlement on the River Great Ouse, situated 97 miles (156 km) north of London and 44 miles (71 km) west of Norwich. The town of King's Lynn lies about 5 miles (8 km) south of the Wash, a fourfold estuary subject to dangerous tides and shifting sandbanks, on the north-west margin of East Anglia. King's Lynn has an area of 11 square miles (28 km2).

Tourism in King's Lynn is a minor industry but still attracts many visitors to its historic centre. The town acts as a base for visiting the Queen's home at Sandringham and other great country houses in the area. Within the town and stretching across the nearby Fenland are some of the finest historic churches in Britain, built at a time when King's Lynn and its hinterland were very wealthy from trade and wool. King's Lynn railway station is the only rail line providing rail transportation to King's Lynn, and is the terminus of the Fen Line.
