New Zealand LOTR Film location: Edoras: Mount Sunday | TRAVEL VLOG | New Zealand Must Do
Any true LOTR fan knows that Rohan, Kingdom of Men is an essential place to see on an epic quest through Middle Earth.
On your roadtrip through New Zealand, however, It's important to manage the time that you have. This beautiful location was one of our favorite LOTR AND hiking destinations, and it is well worth the drive off the main road!
Quick note: you don't need to book a tour, just google Mount Sunday for driving directions. This is on a very VERY long gravel road so just take caution if you're in a massive Campervan.

How to spend 2 days in Christchurch - Lake Tekapo - Mt Cook - & Queenstown - Mark Vincent Miralles
So we are on day 5 now! Just touched down in Christ church went straight to the hotel (BreakFree on Cashel) staying in a pod for the 1st time ever. This hotel was close enough to the center of town to where we didn't have to do any driving once we were there and pretty much walked around town the rest of the day. We arrived here late midday from Auckland and only had about 2 hours before the nightlife began. After checking out the sites we end up grabbing dinner at Casa Publica which we later found out turns into a Salsa nightclub on Thursdays (what do you know its Thursday!). The next morning we made the 3hr drive from Christchurch to Lake Tekapo (Beautiful!). Spent a few hours there then took the 1.25hr drive to Mt Cook (Unreal!). The plan was to stay in Mt Cook overnight to catch the stars and milky way and hopefully a glimpse of the northern lights but the weather was horrible so after a few hours of waiting it out we made the executive decision to move on to the next city around 10pm, Queenstown. After a 4 hour drive in the middle of the night we Ended up stopping on the side of the road to sleep it out the rest of the night in the car. The next morning when we got up we found out that we were at the roaring Meg Falls stop! Woke up to the sounds of a waterfall and stream. From there it was a short drive to get to Queenstown little less than an hour where we were able to spend a few hours. We only made a pit stop here so that we could pick up a different rental vehicle a prius to be precise which saved a whole lot on gas. While being here there was only one thing on my mind so we decided to make the stop to the FergBurger. Checkout the rest!

-- About this video --
Today we are following local recommendations to check out the Awa Awa Reserve walks at the base of Mt Hutt. It’s one of the awesome things to do in Mt Hutt when the mountain is closed or during summer.
We hit the Mt Hutt walks at the base of Mt Hutt in the Awa Awa Reserve. There are many different tracks ranging from 15 minutes to 2 hours. It’s an awesome example of New Zealand native forest with lots of New Zealand birds like fantails and rifleman.
After our walks at Mt Hutt, we go back into Methven New Zealand and have some lunch at the Arabica Cafe in Methven. Tonight, we check out Cinema Paradiso in Methven which is a New Zealand boutique cinema.
So what do you think of these things to do in Methven? Would you add these Methven walks and Methven activities to your Canterbury New Zealand travel itinerary? LUK in the comments.

A stunning, well surfaced, coastal walkway. Enjoy walking through varied and interesting forest to a panoramic, cliff top viewing platform.
The exposed rocky Point Elizabeth lookout has views south toward Mt Cook, north along a spectacular rocky coast and inland towards the Paparoa Mountain Range. Offshore 'sea stacks' remain as a reminder that the point once extended much farther out to sea.
The stunning subtropical forest features nikau palms and mamaku (black tree fern) intertwined with supple jack vines and kiekie. There are also large podocarps like rimu, kahikatea and miro along with epiphytic northern rata adding a splash of crimson during summer.
