Oxbow is an unincorporated community in Baker County, Oregon, United States. Oxbow is along Oregon Route 86 next to the Snake River near the Oxbow Dam on the Oregon-Idaho border, about 17 miles northeast of Halfway. Oxbow is just south of the site of the former mining town of Copperfield. Although it is unincorporated, Oxbow has a post office with a ZIP code of 97840.There was once a station named Oxbow on a portion the Oregon Short Line Railroad now inundated by Oxbow Reservoir. The National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is a 23,000-square-foot interpretive center about the Oregon Trail located 6 miles northeast of Baker City, Oregon on Oregon Route 86 atop Flagstaff Hill. Payette Lake is a natural lake, formed by glacial activity, situated in the upper drainage basin of the Payette River, which drains into the Snake River in southwestern Idaho. Outflow from the lake is regulated for irrigation purposes by a small dam completed in 1943. The normal maximum lake surface elevation of 1,520 metres above sea level is attained in July; a normal drawdown of 1.7 metres is completed by December. The lake surface area and volume, excluding islands, are 20.5 square kilometres and 0.75 cubic kilometres , respectively; mean and maximum depths are 36.8 metres and 92.7 metres , respectively; and shoreline length is about 36 kilometres . Wallowa Lake is a ribbon lake 1 mile south of Joseph, Oregon, United States, at an elevation of 4,372 ft . Impounded by high moraines, it was formed by a series of Pleistocene glaciers. On the south end of the lake is a small community made up of vacation homes, lodging, restaurants, as well as other small businesses. Wallowa Lake has been used for recreation since at least 1880. The Wallowa Lake State Park is at the southern tip of the lake.

Along Hells Canyon Scenic Byway south of Joseph, Oregon!

As you travel up and into this high country of northeastern Oregon you will find this road that takes you along the Oregon side of Hells Canyon and bring you down to the dams along the Snake river. This is a paved road, but it does get some deep snow up along this way. In the video you can see seven devils peak, the blue mountains are abit north and east is Idaho. Beautiful place to stop and rest. I traveled from Walla-Walla, Washington south to Milton-Freewater where I turned east over tollgate pass over to highway 82 through enterprise(beautiful mountain view) and through a peaceful and artistic place of Joseph, Oregon.
