Our Trip to Newfoundland - June 16 to July 4, 2017
This was an awesome trip:
We flew from Hamilton to Halifax and rented a 2017 Jeep Renegade, drove to North SYdney and caught the ferry to Port aux Basques. We drove all the way to St. John's and back - stopping at Gros Morne, Twillingate, Bonavista and Cape Anquile, then back on the ferry to Cape Breton and around the Cabot Trail and then back to Halifax - 4500 kms in all.

Reuben & I explore St.John's, Newfoundland and Cape Spear (the most eastern part of Canada) as part of our Canada 150 road trip before heading to the ferry to take us to Nova Scotia.

This video covers almost the entirety of I-95 from Houlton, Maine to Miami, Florida, with the exception of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This video takes place over three different trips: Across the Island of Newfoundland of Newfoundland and Labrador; Nova Scotia to Springfield, Virginia; and Springfield, Virginia to Key West, Florida.
To be clear, St. John's is considered an oceanic climate, but there are parts of the island of Newfoundland that are considered subarctic, such as Channel-Port aux Basques.
The vehicles used, which were all rentals are:
Across Newfoundland - 2017 Chevrolet Impala (picked up dropped off at St. John's International Airport)
North Sydney, NS to Springfield, VA - 2018 Kia Sorento
Springfield, VA to Key West, FL - 2018 Volvo XC90 (both of which were picked up and dropped off at Washington Dulles International Airport).
A correction in the video: at 7:06:57, the tunnel is Fort McHenry Tunnel, not the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel as stated in the video. Thank you, Chris Foster, for pointing that out.

11 Day Road Trip in Newfoundland
When we would tell people that we were going to Newfoundland for our next trip, we would often get a where? or a why Newfoundland? question to follow. Newfoundland is part of a unique province with wildlife like moose, puffins, and caribou, expansive coastal trails, a rich cultural history, and locals that welcome visitors with open arms.
