The Secret of Hinds Brook (Grand Lake)
Found another hidden gem on Grand Lake. This one is well tucked away. You can boat right past the Hinds Lake generating station and into a beautiful inlet where Hinds Brook used to meet Grand Lake before Hinds Lake was dammed for a hydroelectric station. Now the once mighty brook is only a trickle except when NL Hydro is spilling water from the Hinds Reservoir.
Water depth is a comfortable 3+ meters right to the brook, with many cliff faces continuing well below the water line carving out places nearly 10 meters deep.
This was my first time flying the Mavic without GPS (the cliffs blocked the signal) and flying from the boat. Very nervous at first and I should have turned down my stick response as it was a little touchy. Overall a good flight though.
