Day 14 on our Round The World Trip for Food: Rome, Italy - On our very first day in Rome, we set off early in the morning to see some of the most famous attractions in Rome, including the Colosseum and the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. After doing some more sightseeing and having lunch, we had an amazing Roman food at a restaurant in Rome called Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino.
00:37 Breakfast at the hotel - To begin the day of sightseeing in Rome, we had breakfast at the hotel, and did the final planning of the day.
2:12 Colosseum - One of the most important and well recognized attractions in Rome is the Colosseum and we arrived pretty early to get in, and I also had pre-purchased my tickets online to attempt to beat the crowds and not have to waste time waiting in line. It worked well, and as soon as the Colosseum opened, we went through security and got in. It was an amazing sight to see, especially because it was so quiet when we arrived.
3:51 Roman Forum and Palatine Hill - Locate in the same area as the Colosseum is the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, and so that’s where we went next. Again, seeing the ancient ruins of Rome was truly spectacular.
5:48 Trattoria Luzzi - I wasn’t quite sure where to eat lunch, and located right around these famous attractions in Rome, there are a lot of expensive, and probably not so good restaurants. We decided to go check out a restaurant called Trattoria Luzzi, just down the road from the Colosseum on the opposite side of the road. I ordered Trippa Alla Romana, a Roman tripe dish and also a pasta of Amatriciana. Overall, the food was good, and it was a friendly little restaurant and the location was good. Total price - 21 EUR ($23.47).
10:31 Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano - After lunch we headed to Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, a huge basilica in Rome. Right across the plaza is Scala Sancta, a small chapel with a 28 step staircase where Jesus is believed to have ascended.
13:25 Gelateria Valentino - I don’t know of anyone that goes to Rome without eating some gelato, and right around the Trevi fountain area of Rome, you’ll find a lot of gelato spots. We tried Gelateria Valentino. Gelato - 3 EUR ($3.35)
14:50 Trevi Fountain - Another one of the most iconic attractions in Rome is the Trevi fountain. We didn’t spend too much time there, but it is pretty cool to see in person.
16:25 Amazing Italian Roman food at Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino Restaurant - For dinner, my wife and I met up with Valentina and Antonio. After walking through the amazing narrow lanes of Rome, we navigated our way to Trattoria Dal Cavalier Gino Restaurant, where they had made a reservation for dinner. The restaurant is exactly what you want in a classic Roman Italian food restaurant, a family style restaurant that offers an abundance of Roman dishes. We first started with some types of Roman pasta including cacio e pepe, and carbonara, all of which were incredible - the best pastas I’ve ever had. Then we moved on the an amazing assortment of main Italian food dishes, including veal, lamb, and so many other amazing dishes. It was an Italian food meal like I’ve never had before. Most of the dishes were Roman food style. Thank you Valentina and Antonio for the amazing dinner!
Day 14 in Rome was an amazing day of visiting some of the most famous attractions in Rome and eating some incredibly delicious Italian food!

Thank you to my sister Pam and brother in law Derek for joining me on this food tour of San Diego, California! And during the video I said Oceanside once, but I meant *Ocean Beach. We were on a family vacation in California, but on one day, we decided to go on an ultimate San Diego California food tour. It was a lot of fun, and you’ll find all the information of all the places we ate below:
Breakfast at Northside Shack - We started off in the morning, and first headed to Northside Shack to try their highly rated açaí bowl. It’s a laid back kind of spot, and I ordered the $11 bowl which was the large size. The acai is frozen into a sorget, and then they layered it with granola, about 12 different kinds of fruits, and nuts and seeds. It was delicious and refreshing, great way to begin this food tour.
Hodad's - Probably one of the most legendary of all restaurants in San Diego, California is Hodad’s serving massive double bacon cheeseburgers, and classic American food. The original location is located in Ocean Beach, and it has so much character, plastered with graffiti and stickers. Derek and I each ordered the double bacon cheeseburger, which is a monster burger. It takes some strategy to eat, but it was well worth it. It’s a delicious burger, and I also really enjoyed the onion rings. Price - $14.25
Blue Water Seafood Market & Grill - Pam and Derek had been here before and they knew it was good, so it was a restaurant in San Diego that I was looking forward to trying. You stand in line, order at the counter, and then find a seat. They offer fresh fish of the day, everything very fresh. We started with some oysters and the main dish, which was the best dish of the meal for me was the blackened black seabass. Delicious food, one of the best restaurants I ate at in San Diego. Total price - $65.23
Communal Coffee - Next we stopped to have a quick avocado toast and coffee. It was my first avocado toast at a restaurant, and although it was a little dainty, it was pretty awesomely delicious, a real treat. Price - $26.02 for everything (I think 3 coffees and avocado)
Nine Seas Seafood - Home of the Crazy Tostada, this seafood food truck is a gem of Mexican seafood. We ordered a few ceviches, not knowing how enormous the crazy tostadas were. They were huge, and packed with just about “everything from the sea.” But not only were the crazy tostates huge and crazy, but they were delicious, especially loaded with salsa. Total price - $24.75 for everything
And that completes this San Diego food tour. It was an amazing day and the food was delicious!

Pontos Turísticos
Salvador é um importante destino turístico do país. Quanto ao turismo, fica atrás apenas do Rio de Janeiro em procura. Dentre os pontos de interesse estão: o seu famoso Pelourinho, suas igrejas históricas e suas praias. O interesse pela cidade se dá pela beleza do conjunto arquitetônico e da cultura local (música, culinária e religião).
O litoral de Salvador é uma das mais longas para cidades do Brasil. Há 80 quilômetros de praias distribuídas entre a Cidade Alta e Cidade Baixa, desde Inema, no subúrbio ferroviário até à Praia do Flamengo, do outro lado da cidade. Enquanto as praias da Cidade Baixa são banhadas pelas águas da Baía de Todos-os-Santos (baía mais extensa do país), as praias da Cidade Alta, como a do Farol da Barra e a do Flamengo, são banhadas pelo Oceano Atlântico. À exceção é a praia do Porto da Barra, a única praia da Cidade Alta, localizada na Baía de Todos os Santos. O turista que escolhe Salvador pode ir à praia pela manhã, fazer um passeio ao Centro Histórico à tarde, jantar em um dos bons restaurantes da cidade e ir dançar nos ensaios dos blocos de carnaval ou ao som de outros estilos musicais. Outras opções de lazer são os teatros, como o Castro Alves, o Jorge Amado e o Vila Velha. Ainda se pode ir ao Farol da Barra ver o pôr-do-sol na Baía de Todos os Santos. As praias da capital baiana são calmas, ideais para natação, vela, mergulho e pesca submarina, como também procuradas por surfistas devido enseadas de mar com ondas fortes. Há também praias cercadas por recifes, formando piscinas naturais de pedra, ideal para crianças brincarem.
Grandes hotéis tendem a ser localizados ao longo da orla marítima. Há também pequenos hotéis na Barra e outros (geralmente mais baratos) espalhados ao longo da via principal da Avenida Sete de Setembro (comumente conhecida apenas por Avenida Sete) e ainda outros (também mais baratas) em torno do Pelourinho. Há também várias pousadas na Barra, Pelourinho, Santo Antônio e outros pontos da cidade.
O Mercado Modelo é o ponto escolhido por muitos turistas para comprar lembranças da Bahia, dentre elas rendas, berimbaus e todo tipo de artesanato produzido no estado. No porão ficavam os escravos vindos da África enquanto aguardavam serem leiloados. O porão é repleto de placas de concreto com cerca de 30 centímetros de altura do chão, para que o turista possa ali passear mesmo quando a maré está cheia, pois é comum o porão encher-se de água do mar neste momento. Os arco com os tijolos a mostra — e que servem de estrutura para o Mercado Modelo — fazem belas composições quando refletidos no espelho d'água. Idiossincrasia de um tempo moderno.
Outro grande atrativo da cidade é o Carnaval, considerado a maior festa popular do mundo (o Guinness Book, em 2004, registrou o carnaval da Bahia como sendo o maior do mundo). Existem três formas de aproveitar o carnaval baiano, uma é associar-se a um dos blocos carnavalescos que são puxados por trios elétricos e isolados da multidão por uma corda. Muitos argumentam que isto termina por privatizar o espaço público, e de que essa forma de aproveitar o carnaval só é acessível àqueles com alto poder aquisitivo, pois para adquirir um abadá é preciso desembolsar, em média, oitocentos reais. A segunda forma é ficar nos camarotes que estão distribuídos por todo o percurso da folia. Essa forma de pular carnaval só é acessível para quem tem ainda mais dinheiro, preferindo assistir a festa do alto, em confortáveis espaços onde os pagantes podem dispor de boates, serviços médicos, banquetes de frutas e comidas típicas, além de outras amenidades.

City Description:
Salvador, the capital of Brazil’s northeastern state of Bahia, is known for its Portuguese colonial architecture, Afro-Brazilian culture and a tropical coastline. The Pelourinho neighborhood is its historic heart, with cobblestone alleys opening onto large squares, colorful buildings and baroque churches such as São Francisco, featuring gilt woodwork.From Pelourinho, the Elevador Lacerda art deco elevator descends a cliff to the waterfront and the Mercado Modelo, a large crafts market. Beachside Rio Vermelho is the heart of the city’s restaurant and nightlife scene. At the tip of the peninsula, the Santo Antônio da Barra fort and its accompanying lighthouse and nautical museum overlook All Saints’ Bay. At street stalls all over Salvador, Baianas (women in traditional all-white outfits) sell acarajés and abarás, Afro-Brazilian dishes based on black-eyed peas. Carnaval time brings samba and axé music, massive street parties and parades.
Weather and Events:
The weather is warm and humid year-round, with more rain in winter (Jul–Aug). Peak seasons include summer (Dec–Mar) and Jul–Sep, particularly around New Year’s and Carnaval (Feb/Mar, dates vary), one of the world’s largest. Other major events include the Bom Jesus dos Navegantes festival (Jan), with its boat parade, and the Iemanjá Festival (Feb), dedicated to the Afro-Brazilian goddess of the sea.

Rio de Janeiro - amazing SUGARLOAF(!) and Ipanema beach
We made our trip to Rio de Janeiro in December and in this video you'll find selected video clips from that journey. More detailed video of the TAM Airlines transatlantic flight and also Sugarloaf mountain tour (longer version) you can find from my other Youtube-videos.
In the video you'll find one of the best landscape/tourist attraction on this planet, Sugarloaf Mountain. So if you ever go to Rio visit there!!! That is amazing experience (reached by cable cars) and from this video you can check that unbelievable scenery from the top of the mountain. Video doesn't give the full experience, so if you can, visit it by yourself!
We stayed in Abilità Suites Ipanema Tower, which were located only one block from the beach. Near the Ipanema beach is nice jogging street and even outside/beach gym.

I’ve eaten In-N-Out Burger before and I’ve eaten Five Guys before… but this was my first time to ever eat them back to back. In this video I’m taking you on a full burger review comparison between In-N-Out and Five Guys, two burger chains with extremely loyal followings.
In-N-Out Burger
I ordered the Double Double and extra crispy fries. Now to keep things consistent for the review, I couldn’t go all crazy with their secret menu of toppings, so all I ordered was extra onions.
Prices - Double Double - $3.85, Extra crispy fries - $1.80
The Double Double from In-N-Out is indeed extremely tasty and salty and it has an amazing balance of tastes and everything goes together in such harmony. However, after finishing the Double Double I walked away still quite hungry.
Five Guys
Next we drove over to Five Guys, luckily just a 5 minute drive from In-N-Out Burger. Again, I kept it pretty simple and just ordered their cheeseburger all the way, and a side of regular fries. You’ll notice immediately that the prices are twice as high as In-N-Out, however, we’ll find out that their burger weight probably twice as much as well.
Prices - Cheeseburger - $7.99, Fries - $4.29
The Five Guys Cheeseburger is heavy and dense, and they already press down the bun for you, so it’s not fluffy at all. The ingredients inside are great, and I especially enjoyed the mushrooms inside. The burger is definitely not as salty as In-N-Out, however it tastes better quality.
VERDICT:
It sort of depends on what mood you’re in, and you do have to take into account that Five Guys is twice as expensive as In-N-Out - so you could eat two Double Doubles for the same price as one Five Guys cheeseburger.
I think the In-N-Out Double Double is tastier, possibly because it’s saltier, but the Five Guys burger tastes fresher, more natural, and a little more home-cooked styles. Overall, I would choose Five Guys more often than In-N-Out Burger. That’s my final verdict.
