10. Suriname Mosque
The largest Mosque in the Caribbean is Mosque Keizerstraat, located in Paramaribo. It is a beautiful building with stunning gardens around it. No machinery was used during construction and thus it took 20 years to complete. Not only is it an impressive place of worship it’s unique because of its next door neighbour, the Nevah Shalom Synagogue.
9. Presidential Palace of Suriname
Located in the capital across from Independence Square, the presidential palace is one of the best examples of Dutch colonial architecture in Suriname. Part of the inner city’s UNESCO World Heritage designation, it was built in the 18th century, and is still the presidents home.
8. Arya Dewaker
This Hindu temple is the largest in Suriname and is located in Paramaribo. It’s arguably the most important in the country to the 30,000+ Hindu’s who live there. Designed by a Dutch architect, the building is a two-story octagonal building with meeting rooms, a library, and ceremony room.
7. Joden Savanne
ust south of Paramaribo, on the Suriname River, is Joden Savanne, or Jews’ savannah. Established in the 17th century, it was originally an agricultural community that was developed by Spanish Jews fleeing persecution. Sugarcane plantations were the main crop and slaves were used here for a long time.
6. Brownsberg Nature Park
Roughly 80 miles from Paramaribo you’ll find the Brownsberg Nature Park. It’s 500 metres above sea level and was established in 1969. It’s mostly neotropical rainforest and is home to hundreds of unique and rare plant and animal species.
5. Commewijne River
All along the Commewijne River, you’ll find old plantation properties as well as cacao, coffee, and sugar cane facilities. A tourist favourite is to rent a bike for the day and cycle the well-maintained routes around the plantations. Though, the most popular route to cross the river from Paramribo is by water taxi. They mostly take you to Frederiksdorp, an old restored plantation that is now a hotel and restaurant.
4. Nieuw Nickerie
This busy border town was once one of the country’s main balata collecting centres. These days the port remains active and the economy is served by the banana and rice plantations here. If you’re hoping to explore Bigi Pan, a swamp and reservoir with over 100 bird varieties, Nieuw Nickerie is the last stop before Guyana.
3. Central Suriname Nature Reserve
The largest of Suriname’s nature reserves, Central Suriname covers about 12% of the country’s total land mass and 40% of the plants and animals here are to be found only in the Guianas. One of the most beautiful attractions in the reserve is Raleighvallen, Raleigh Falls. It’s a long and low staircase of water that cascades down from the Coppename River.
2. Galibi Coppename Nature Reserve
This lovely nature reserve was established in 1969 and is situated at the mouth of the Coppename River. It’s a haven for birdwatchers, home to the endangered manatee, and attracts hundreds of turtles during laying season (April to August). STINASU, The Foundation for Nature Conservation in Suriname, organizes several tours to and through the reserve.
1. Paramaribo
If you could combine the American Wild West with Amsterdam, you’d get Paramaribo. A high energy city filled with things to see and do, it’s the most incredible capital in the Guianas. Roam around the inner city, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, and discover grassy squares lined with black and white Dutch colonial buildings, have lunch at one of the many Indian roti shops, and buy a few pieces of artwork from the Maroon artists selling their art outside the old Dutch forts.

our rent cost in a mexico beach town
How expensive is it to live by the beach? We're sharing what we pay for rent & tips to find a rental in Mexico.
►Rocket Spanish:
We're FINALLY sharing all the details of our Puerto Morelos, Mexico rent in today's travel vlog. This video includes tips on how to find a rental in Mexico, rent costs in Mexico, and the full story about how we decided on an apartment in the Riviera Maya.
If you haven't seen our previous videos, we (Jordan, Maddie, and Laska) are traveling the world, starting with Mexico. For the past year, we've visited dozens of cities across Mexico and just recently, we decided to settle down for a few months in the Riviera Maya beach town called Puerto Morelos. Previously, we thought the Mayan Riviera was too expensive to rent long-term but we were SO WRONG! Not every Mexico beach town is as expensive as Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.
Hope we answered all the questions you might have about rent costs in Mexico, especially regarding this beach town in the Riviera Maya. If you want to know more about Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo or our experiences finding a rental in Mexico, let us know in a comment!

Our FAVORITE day in MEXICO CITY!
We're experiencing CDMX for the 1st time. This travel vlog = our pure happiness in Mexico City!
►Start your free trial of Rocket Languages:
Wow, what a fun day this was in Mexico City!
Back when we lived in Guadalajara, we LOVED that the city closes down major streets every Sunday for recreational activities. You could walk your dog, take out your skateboard, bring the kids, ride a bike - however you wanted to move around the city, really!
When we heard that CDMX had the same thing (called Muevete en Bici), we jumped at the opportunity to get some fresh air on Paseo de la Reforma, the most notable street in Mexico City. We took an Uber from our hotel in Santa Fe and grabbed two MoBike rentals to join the fun. And what fun it was!
Later in the day, we find ourselves in a super cool library bar and a Japanese restaurant with swings! Both of these were in Colonia Juarez in Zona Rosa, one of the many interesting neighborhoods of Mexico City. Finally, we made our way to the absolutely stunning, Monumento a la Revolucion. We took the elevador to the lookout point and soaked in the spectacular 360 views of the city.
Unfortunately, our time in Mexico City is coming to an end—this time at least—so we'll have to save all the things we didn't get to do for another trip. Do you think we should come back to Mexico City? Let us know in the comments! For now, it's back to our home in Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo.

Vancouver travel, Canada 2019
Vancouver travel, Canada 2019
Vancouver is the largest metropolitan area in Western Canada, and third largest in Canada, with a population of 2.6 million. Located at the southwestern corner of the coastal province of British Columbia, it is well known for its majestic natural beauty, as it is nestled between the Coast Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. It is frequently ranked as one of the best cities to live in and is certainly a beautiful destination to visit.
See in Vancouver, Canada
=====================
While Vancouver is still a young city, it has a variety of attractions and points of interest for the visitor. Many of the city's landmarks and historical buildings can be found downtown. Canada Place, with its distinctive sails, the Vancouver Convention Centre located just beside it, the intricate Art Deco styling of the Marine Building and the old luxury railway hotel of the Hotel Vancouver are in the central business district. Stanley Park (the city's most popular attraction), along with its neighbouring Coal Harbour walkway and the Vancouver Aquarium are in the West End and Gastown, the original town site of Vancouver, has a number of restored buildings and its steam clock is a popular spot to visit. Modern architecture worth visiting also includes Shangri-La, currently the tallest building in the city, and the Sheraton Wall Centre. Another popular city landmark, the bustling markets and shops of Granville Island, is just to the south of downtown in South Granville.
If you're looking to learn a little about the people of the Northwest Coast and some of its history, one good spot is the impressive Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia, which houses several thousand objects from BC's First Nations. The museum is also home to significant collections of archaeological objects and ethnographic materials from other parts of the world. The Vancouver Art Gallery, located downtown combines local with international through a variety of exhibitions and a permanent collection that focuses on renowned British Columbia artist, Emily Carr. The Vancouver Public Library, located downtown at Homer and Robson Sts, is modelled after the Roman Colosseum, and houses the city's largest library. Another downtown sight is the small Contemporary Art Gallery on Nelson Street, which features modern art. Also located nearby, on the east side of False Creek is the shiny geodesic dome of the Telus World of Science (commonly known as Science World), which has a number of exhibits, shows and galleries aimed at making science fun for kids. Another great spot to check out is the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum located at Gate A of BC Place Stadium. The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum preserves and honours BC's Sport heritage by recognizing extraordinary achievement in sport through using their collection and stories to inspire all people to pursue their dreams. There are also some smaller sights in Kitsilano, including the Vancouver Maritime Museum, Museum of Vancouver, and H.R. Macmillan Space Centre.
The city has a wealth of parks and gardens scattered throughout. The most famous is Stanley Park at the tip of the downtown peninsula. Its miles of trails for walking and cycling, beaches, magnificent views and the attractions (including totem poles) within the park gives it something for everyone. The most popular trail is the Seawall, a paved trail that runs around the perimeter of Stanley Park and now joins with the seawalls in Coal Harbour and Kitsilano, totaling 22 km in length. The Vancouver Aquarium is located within Stanley Park. Other notable parks and gardens include VanDusen Botanical Garden in South Vancouver and Queen Elizabeth Park near South Main, the Nitobe Memorial Garden (commonly known as the Nitobe Japanese Garden) and UBC Botanical Garden at the University of British Columbia and the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden in Chinatown downtown.
Admission to Vancouver's various attractions can range from $10 to up to $30 per person. There are a variety of attractions passes available that help visitors save on retail admissions such as the Vancouver Five in One Card.
Finally, a trip to Vancouver wouldn't be complete without a glimpse of the skyline and the Coastal mountains rising above the city (clouds permitting, of course!). Popular spots to view it include Stanley Park and the Harbour Centre downtown, Spanish Banks and Jericho Beaches in Point Grey and Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver. Other interesting views can be seen from City Hall at 12th and Cambie, the Vancouver LookOut Tower, Queen Elizabeth Park and East Van's CRAB Park.
Cuba Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia (4K)
It’s only 93 miles from Florida, and just 13 from the Bahamas, but like the smoke that coils from its legendary cigars, The Republic of Cuba exists in a time and space all its own.
Few cities can stir the imagination like Cuba’s capital, Havana, a city preserved by forts, a five-mile seawall, and an imposed embargo, which held back the excesses of the 20th century for over 50 years.
Havana’s lure can be hard to resist, but Cuba offers so much more beyond the seductive lights of its capital. In Cuba, a long sandy beach is never far away.
Just 12 miles from Havana’s downtown, the Eastern Beaches unroll toward the town of Matanzas, the birthplace of the rumba, and Cárdenas, where the Cuban Flag flew for the very first time. From here, follow the scent of fresh lime, rum and suntan lotion north to Varadero.
After exploring the northern coastline, turn south towards Cuba’s most revolutionary city, Santa Clara, and Trinidad, once the sugar capital of the world. Don’t miss elegant Cienfuegos, the only Cuban city founded by the French.
Sometimes it’s hard to know whether Cuba is awakening to the world, or if the world is awakening to Cuba. Whatever your politics, it's easy to admire this island nation that has proudly gone its own way.
Cuba may still have one foot firmly in the past, but as the world tumbles towards tomorrow, we can be thankful for the many things it has not let go.
