New Trail Day: Midtown at Mammoth Mountain California
Brand new intermediate run. The first day it opened! The ~20 hundred berms were still a bit soft. But this is going to be a fun trail at Main Lodge. In terms of difficulty, it's bridging the gap nicely between the other intermediates and the more extreme ones.

Mammoth Travel Guide | California Travel Tips
California travel expert Veronica Hill offers a Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Mountain Travel Guide in this episode of California Travel Tips.
Mammoth Mountain is located 11,000 feet above sea level in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. This central California hideaway, located just east of Yosemite National Park, doesn't get a huge amount of play in guidebooks. But just one visit to this charming mountain village and you'll be hooked.
The Eastern Sierras are legendary for their beauty, and Mammoth is no exception. Though it's best known for its winter sports, Mammoth is just as fun when there's no snow on the ground.
At the Main Lodge Adventure Center, kids can go rock climbing, rush down a quick-moving zip line, or go mountain biking on more than 100 miles of dirt single-track.
This is also where you'll pick up the Reds Meadow Shuttle into the Ansel Adams wilderness, where you can either hike or ride on horseback to beautiful Rainbow Falls.
If you come to Mammoth during the summer, you have to take the gondola ride to the top where you can go hiking, biking and check out a great interpretive center.
At the Sierra Interpretive Center, you'll learn that Mammoth is actually part of an active volcano chain — though the chances of a major eruption are slim. While you're there, pop into the cafe where you can enjoy a sandwich and soda while gazing out at the beautiful Eastern Sierras.
Though there are several great Mammoth hotels to choose from, we always stay at the Village, an alpine resort with great restaurants, super shopping and one of the best pools in town!
The Village at Mammoth condos are right on the slopes, with daily maid service, a spacious lobby and heated swimming pool. Our family has been staying here for years, and we love its convenience to the gondola and village center. If you prefer a hotel, the Westin Mammoth is right across the street.
The Village is also home to some great Mammoth restaurants, including Lulu Mammoth Restaurant and Bar, an outlet of the famous San Francisco eatery. The Old New York Deli and Bagel Shop is a cheap and delicious place to grab breakfast. Another great dining choice is Side Door Cafe, where you can linger over a delicate crepe and glass of fine wine.
While you're there, don't miss the free red trolley rides around town. It's a great way to explore the village and nearby Mammoth Lakes, which boasts some of the best fishing in California.

Techno Rock to Velocity to Twilight Zone, Mammoth Mountain California
That's a fun lap at Main Lodge. It was the first time I was doing Techno Rock & mid-Velocity. The Pro Line sign is a bit intimidating, but it's still doable on the enduro bike.

2018/06/29-1 California: Mammoth Lakes, The Westin Resort - Mammoth Village
Mammoth Lakes is a town in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. It's known for the Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain ski areas and nearby trails. The town is a base for Devils Postpile National Monument, a formation of basalt columns, and the soaring Rainbow Falls. To the north, saltwater Mono Lake is dotted with limestone towers. Yosemite National Park, with its granite cliffs and ancient sequoias, is nearby.

Fun Family Summer Activities at Mammoth Mountain, California
Mammoth Mountain is a famous ski resort, but they've also added a bunch of fun summertime activities that are family friendly. I was invited to visit this resort for the launch of electric mountain bike trails with Trek, and in the process we saw a ropes course, zip lines, a rock climbing wall, and other attractions that I thought would be fun to share here.
At the top of the mountain range you're standing at roughly 11,053 feet. Mammoth has this extreme downhill ride called the Kamikazi bike race where people go upwards of 60mph on mountain bikes... but that's probably more of a spectator event. The newly opened zip line is called the Mammoth Megazip. At the top of the mountain is an Interpretive center where they can take people on rides, hikes, and teach you about the volcano. It's actually one of the most active volcano's behind Yellowstone, and you can see all the way to Yosemite on a clear day, which is pretty amazing.
Music used in this video includes unlicensed tracks from the YouTube Audio Library at including: Bongo Madness, Komputo, Palm Trees, and Way Out West. Since Mammoth Mountain and Trek provided free plane tickets, a bus to the resort, a free room to stay in, and food, this video is #Sponsored but we were not asked to do anything beyond make a bike review for the Trek Powerfly full suspension ebike. We just wanted to share the fun things that we did outside of the event :)
Mountain Biking Road Trip to Mammoth Mountain Bike Park Day 1 Aug 10, 2019
This is Day 1 of our Road Trip to Mammoth Mountain Bike Park.
we hit most of the black, double black and pro line trails. I had to work Saturday night so I only had 2.5 hours of sleep. I left my house at 4am and we all met at Chris's house at 5am. We made it to Mammoth at right when it opened at 9am.The lack of sleep really effected my riding. Since Sammy and Rob had to head back the same day we decided to skip lunch and ride all day. I only eat once a day which is at 2pm, skipping meals is not problem for me but I think with lack of sleep and riding for 6 hours on an empty stomach (26 hour fast) got me sloppy on the bike.
I have only been to Mammoth once before and I was so stoked to be back. This place is bad ass and due to the dirt being so loose it makes everything so gnarly. Most people call the dirt kitty litter because it feels like you are riding in deep kitty litter which makes it very hard to control. I had a bunches of crashes and I really regretted not wearing elbow pads. The last crash on Day 1 was really bad and I had to call it quit early so I could ride the following day. I didnt even realize that I got knocked out for a few seconds until I watched the footage. I was afraid I wouldnt be able to ride on Day 2 because my thumb got dislocated and I wasnt able to hold the bars. We went to a Natural Hot Springs and it seriously helped my body heal. I woke up the next day feeling much better.

Mammoth Bar OHV Trail Guide - Stonewall, Rocky, Eastside, Grizzly - Auburn, Ca - Mountain Biking
Today you'll find out which is better to ride at an OHV park. A motorcycle or a mountain bike. If you aren't familiar with the Mammouth Bar OHV park in Auburn California everything you need to know is in this video. Mammoth Bar is a fun way to spice up the regular Auburn trail system. I heard about it for a long time, but never ventured over there. Now that I know my way around I'm kicking myself in the butt for not riding over there sooner. #AuburnSRA #MTB #OHVpark

US Ski Resorts Allowing Electric Bike Rentals for Summer Riding, Mammoth Mountain Interview
On June 28th 2018 we met with Gabe Taylor, marketing manager for Mammoth Lakes, a ski resort near Lake Tahoe in California. He explained that electric bikes are now allowed at Mammoth Mountain in the bike park, and they are the first resort in the United States make this possible on National Forest land! Mammoth Mountain is a resort that sits at 9,000 foot elevation, and it is home to some of the most prodigious cross-country trails in the world. In this video, we learn about the resort and its trails, how ebikes were brought into their program, and how this addition makes it possible for riders of different skill levels and those from low elevation to enjoy a wider range of trails, including uphill flow trails. It's a great move for families and those who wish to explore more of the mountain in a shorter amount of time.

MCLEOD LAKE TRAIL MAMMOTH LAKES CALIFORNIA
This was the last hike I did on my 4 day Eastern Sierras trip. This easy 1.8 miles round trip hike including a loop around the whole lake. Just like all other lakes in Mammoth Lakes it's beautiful! Hope I have helped you decide on what trails you want to do the next time YOU visit the Eastern Sierras of California.
MEGAKAMI DH Race at Mammoth Mountain California
Mass start Kamikaze race? MEGAKAMI!
That wasn't the original plan at all for Round #8 of the VCDH Race Series. But a thunderstorm quickly approaching the summit was either going to force an evacuation OR they could send all racers at once. Riders voted and this happened; It was so much fun!! I hope they do it again :-)
It was my first participation in the VCDH Race Series. This is a completely free for fun race series that runs every Friday 5pm at Mammoth Mountain. And they have a post race party with food, drinks & raffle! Awesome way to start a weekend!
Check out the race series calendar here:

Sierra Nevada Lodge, Mammoth Lakes CA - 10/01/19
This is basically a ski lodge. The room was basic but nicely furnished and the bed was comfortable. The pizza place just down the street has a great Pastrami sandwich.
