A Nova Scotia road trip is the perfect introduction into the Maritime region of Canada. Nova Scotia, which means “New Scotland” has a significant Scottish influence while also being known as Canada’s ocean playground.

GGC - 36 - The 12.9km Confederation Bridge from PEI to New Brunswick
Part 32 of our road trip across Northern Quebec and Eastern Canada. After only a few days on Prince Edward Island, it was unfortunately, already time to leave. But rather than take the ferry back to Nova Scotia, we decided to take the 12.9 km (8 mile) Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick.

A Nova Scotia Signature Event, this three day festival celebrates the end of the fishing season in the area, maritime culture and music. The event features musical performances at the Main Stage, a Beer Garden, a Mardi Gras Parade, an Antique Car Show, Fire Works, Buskers, Bed Races, Derby Races, Boat Races, Modified Boat Races, Street Dance, Lobster Dinners, Pancake Breakfast, 10K Run for the Lobster, a Mid-Way, a Children's Parade and many other activities for the whole family.

The Town of Pictou, located on the beautiful Northumberland Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada, is renowned as the Birthplace of New Scotland as it was here where the first wave of Scottish immigrants landed in 1773.
