Cotswold Festival of Steam, May 2018, Part 1

Arriving at Cheltenham Racecourse station by vintage bus from the mainline station, we purchase our tickets for the most ambitious event the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Steam Railway has ever proposed. 8 locomotives in steam as well as numerous other attractions, stalls, traction engines and tea. Commencing our day at Cheltenham Racecourse while we await the arrival of Collett 'King' Class No. 6023 'King Edward II' with the 0900 service from Toddington we watch Collett 'Manor' Class No. 7820 'Dinmore Manor' running up and down the platform on 'Driver for a Tenner' duties. Once our train arrives we board for the journey along the line, on this occasion as far as Winchcombe, where we alight and once Collett 0-6-0PT No. 6430 arrives from Broadway watch the King depart.
During a lull in proceedings at Winchcombe we take a look around the station, model railway and carriage engineering works, before USATC Class S160 No. 5197 arrives from Cheltenham with Merchant Navy 35006 'Peninsular & Oriental SN CO' on the rear, and not long after our train headed by Riddles 'Britannia' 7MT No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' arrives in the opposite direction, with Churchward 28xx No. 2807 on the rear. Heading back through Greet tunnel we arrive at Gotherington, alight and our train continues it's journey, where part 1 ends.
