1. Krasnoyarsk Dam Divnogorsk
The Krasnoyarsk Dam is a 124-metre high concrete gravity dam located on the Yenisey River about 30 kilometres upstream from Krasnoyarsk in Divnogorsk, Russia. It was constructed from 1956 to 1972, and it supplies about 6,000 MW of power, mostly used to supply the KrAZ . Both power and aluminum plants are controlled by the RUSAL company. Beginning with the opening of the 10th turbine in April 1971, the powerhouse was the world’s single largest power plant until the Grand Coulee Dam in [Washington State]] reached 6,181 MW in 1983. Yenisei River (Yenisey, Енисей) is considered the 7th largest river on our planet and the 2nd in Russia. The river is almost 5,500 kilometres (3,420 miles) long. Its watershed, which includes Lake Baikal, holds more water than any other river system. Yenisei's tributaries include famous Angara, Nizhnyaya Tunguska, and Tuba rivers.[
Yenisei (Yenisey, Енисей) rises in the mountains of Russia near the Mongolian border and flows generally northward through Siberia into the Kara Sea, Arctic Ocean. The river is often considered the boundary between Western and Eastern Siberia.
The Yenisei and its tributaries are rich in fish, including salmon and sturgeon. As the river flows north towards the sea it travels through taiga forests which change into a tundra.
