The Alien Beauty of Socotra Island
The remote island of Socotra looks like a landscape out of a sci-fi film. Over millions of years, the isolated island in the Arabian Sea has cultivated a unique biodiversity unlike anywhere else on Earth. Twisted dragon’s blood trees and bulbous bottle trees have made Socotra a place of legends, feared by sailors throughout history and believed by some to be the site of the original Garden of Eden.

Phoenix, Arizona, USA
For me, one of the ultimate American food meals to eat is awesome BBQ - when the meat is smoked perfectly so it slides off the bone, and the flavor is packed full of insane smokiness. My brother in law Derek had already been to Little Miss BBQ, but it was my first time to eat here, and I was so excited.
I arrived a little over an hour early to get in line, but luckily as soon as you pull up you get a number so that you don’t actually have to wait in line the entire time.
Scott and the entire crew at Little Miss BBQ are amazing, and you can immediately feel their passion and their genuine love for what they do and for the people they get to interact with everyday as a result of serving the best BBQ in Phoenix! Scott and his wife have an interesting and amazing grassroots history and start to their BBQ business. They first started making BBQ at home just because they loved doing it. Eventually they started competing in American BBQ competitions. At the beginning things didn’t go so well, but they kept going and perfecting their BBQ recipes and eventually started to win some of the competitions. Eventually they opened Little Miss BBQ, and it’s one of the best BBQ spots you’ll ever eat at.
So after getting the full tour of the restaurant and all the smoked meat, it was about time to open. You line up outside and the actual inside is quite small - most people either takeaway or eat outside.
I wanted to try a little of everything, so we got a giant tray of smoked BBQ meat including pork ribs, pulled pork, turkey, sausage, brisket, and beef ribs, with sides. Total price for the entire tray came to $92.70 - that was a lot of meat!
Thanks to my brother in law Derek for coming out to eat as well. We started with the beef ribs, and those are the best of the best. The meat falls apart and it was so insanely juicy and flavorful. The BBQ brisket will also blow you mind with its massive meaty flavor and juiciness. Finally my other top meat was the sausage, including jalapeno and a mix of meat and bacon.
Lastly, you have to eat your American food bbq feast with their famous pecan pie. And even though I’m not into sweets, a few bites at the end was amazing.
Little Miss BBQ is a phenomenal BBQ restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona. Not only will the quality and taste of the meat blow you away, but the passion of Scott and the entire crew are so genuine and so friendly, and that’s what makes it so good.

13 Weirdest Rituals Around The World
From insane and amazing tribal scarification to the painful bullet ant glove these traditions and practices are some of the strangest!

8. Cooper’s Hill Cheese Race
Westerner’s are of course, guilty of some weird rituals from time to time. The annual cheese rolling race takes place on a steep hill known as Cooper’s Hill near the city of Brockworth, in the UK. A large amount of spectators come to watch as they hope to see someone fall and down the hillside. A large circle of cheese is rolled down the hill and the group chases it, hoping to win the grand prize. What’s the grand prize you might ask? The cheese. The first cheese rolling race took place in the late 1800’s.so it’s been around for quite some time. No one seems to be able to stay on both feet during race due to the steepness and people who participate, do so at their own risk.
7. Dani Tribe Finger Ritual
Members of the Dani tribe in Papua New Guinea partake in an extremely painful ritual while mourning for their lost family members. This includes amputating one or more of their fingers and placing it in their loved one's casket. This is supposed to symbolize the pain they’ve gone through during their loved one’s passing. The Papua New Guinea government has tried to ban this practice with little success. Many older members of the tribe still have shortened fingers.
6. Masai Spitting
This tribe in Africa has an unusual way to greet their friends. Instead of giving a hug or a high five, they might receive a loogie right to face. You might have remembered something similar to this in the movie Ace Ventura when he gets spit on by the chief and his son. Furthermore, when a child is born within this tribe, the father will normally spit on it. When greeting people older than them, Masai soldiers will normally spit in their hand be shaking it, as a sign of affection and respect.
5. Indian Pilgrimages
This man here from India has made one serious dedication to his family. He carried his blind mother in a basket for about 12 years in order for her to make religious pilgrimages. He was inspired by the Hindu mythical character in the Hindu epic known as Ramayana. They have visited several places across india and his only means of income is from charity. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t give this guy a few dollars if you saw him in the streets. Another strange pilgrimage that takes place in India is to the Karni Mata Shrine. It’s here where followers of the hindu religion worship the rats who live inside this shrine as local deities. There are over 20,000 furry gods that live here.
4. Bullet Ant Glove
Growing up can be tough. Growing up in the Satere-Mawe tribe in the Amazon of Brazil is even tougher. In order to become a man here, teenage boys must wear a glove completely filled with bullet ants! In this photo you see a man getting ready to hand off the glove to someone ready to become a man! These ants don’t get their name for nothing either. The one’s who’ve been stung by these creepy crawlers describe the pain as unbearable, almost like getting shot with a bullet. They must leave the glove on and endure the pain for 10 minutes, then do this 20 times in order to achieve adulthood. And you thought going to a bar mitzvah was bad!
3. Baby Tossing
Each year about 200 babies are dropped from windows in India. The practice is believed to date back hundreds of years ago. Don’t worry though, some below are holding on to a thick blanket in order to catch them. Most of the infants that are forced to participate are under the age of 2. Hundreds gather to watch the ritual, as these little freefallers plunge 50 feet. This is performed by both Muslims and Hindus.
2. La Tomatina, Spain
Each year in eastern Spain, a strange festival takes place where thousands of mushy, ripe tomatoes are pelted at each other for no apparent good reason. In the city of Bunol, 160 tons of tomatoes were brought in August 2016 to be used as ammunition in this battle. Participants are left dripping in acidic tomato juice but it turns out that this actually helps clean the streets . Around 20,000 people are expected annually to partake in the mayhem, which you can tell gets quite messy. Many are suggested to wear some type of goggles to protect their eyes. This seems to be just a complete waste of food.
1. Crucifixion Re-enactment
Devoted Christians in the Philippines take place in a brutal reenactment of the crucifixion each year on Good Friday. This includes, Roman legions, wooden crosses and real nails hammered through people’s hands and feet! The event attracts over 10,000 spectators each year. This event dates back to the 1950’s and people get a true feel for the pain described in the Bible. Do you think they’re taking this a little too seriously?

Calle de Alcalá is the longest street in Madrid. It starts at the Puerta del Sol and goes on for 10.5 km, to the northeastern outskirts of the city.
