North Jeolla Province or Jeollabuk-do is a province in the southwest of South Korea. The province was formed in 1896 from the northern half of the former Jeolla province, and remained a province of Korea until the country's division in 1945, then became part of South Korea. The provincial capital is Jeonju, which was the capital of all of Jeolla before 1896. Jeollabuk-do has the most fertile fields in the Republic of Korea and is known for agricultural production.

In May 2012, Jeonju was chosen as a Creative Cities for Gastronomy as part of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network. This honour recognizes the city's traditional home cooking handed down over thousands of years, its active public and private food research, a system of nurturing talented chefs, and its hosting of distinctive food festivals.

The Donghak Peasant Revolution , also known as the Donghak Peasant Movement , Donghak Rebellion, Peasant Revolt of 1894, Gabo Peasant Revolution, and a variety of other names, was an armed rebellion in Korea led by aggravated peasants and followers of the Donghak religion, a panentheistic religion viewed by many rebels as a political ideology. In 1894, the magistrate of Gobu, Jo Byeonggap, had created various bogus laws and forced the peasants to build reservoirs and settle in unowned lands in order to get rich from taxes and fines. In March, angered peasants allied under Jeon Bongjun and Kim Gaenam, beginning the Gobu Revolt. However, the Gobu revolt was suppressed by Yi Yongtae, and Jeon Bongjun fled to Taein. In April, Jeon gathered an army in Mount Baek and recaptured Gobu. The rebels ...

Gunsan is a city in North Jeolla Province, South Korea. It is on the south bank of the Geum River just upstream from its exit into the Yellow Sea. It has emerged as a high-tech manufacturing industrial city and an international trade seaport that is approximately 200 km southwest of Seoul on the midwest coast of the Korean Peninsula. Kunsan Air Base operated by the United States Air Force is in the city. To encourage investment, a free trade zone has been declared in the area. Famous people from Gunsan include actress Lee Eun-ju, comedian Park Myeong-su, and Teen Top member L.Joe.

A hanok is a traditional Korean house. Hanoks were first designed and built in the 14th century during the Joseon Dynasty.Korean architecture considers the positioning of the house in relation to its surroundings, with thought given to the land and seasons. The interior of the house is also planned accordingly. This principle is called baesanimsu , meaning that the ideal house is built with a mountain in the back and a river in the front. Hanok shapes differ by region. In the cold northern regions of Korea, hanoks are built in a square with a courtyard in the middle in order to retain heat better. In the south, hanoks are more open and L-shaped.

Where I Got My Hanbok ♥ Korean Dress Shop in Korea

Today I'm showing you where I got my hanbok, the traditional dress of Korea! Specifically the design I'm wearing is modernized, which makes it more functional and comfortable for present day wear. In this episode we try on various hanbok, learn the differences between traditional and modern styles, practice tying goreum (coat strings on the hanbok top) and even get groovy in a hanbok fashion show! Watch the video to see the colors unfold :)
