La Ruta de Lechon is located 1 hour south of San Juan in Guavate, Puerto Rico. Here there is a 3 mile strip of local restaurants selling the staple dish of Puerto Rico, Lechon.
Lechon is roasted pork and it's served with sides like rice, beans and morcilla. I visited two restauranants El Ranchos Original and Los Pinos. I got to visit the kitchen where they roast the pork and the back where they make the morcilla.
La Ruta de Lechon is really the best place on earth to eat roasted pork. If you find yourself in Puerto Rico definitely try to make it down to Guavate and eat Lechon for the ages!
Big thanks to my friends at the Intercontinental San Juan:

Puerto Rico 2017
Puerto Rico round two.
School Trip to Puerto Rico
This March, our school took a group of 22 people to Puerto Rico for a service trip. Over a duration of 5 days, we helped a Puerto Rican community begin to rebuild a house after the devastation done by Hurricane Maria. We also got the chance to experience some classic Puerto Rican culture such as Salsa dancing, traditional foods, tours of some of their monuments, a hike through the rainforest, bioluminescent kayaking, and exploring some of their beautiful public beaches. Our trip had many fun elements to it, but out of all the things we did, it all comes down to the service we did for the people who were affected by Hurricane Maria. All of us had a blast on this trip, and if we had the chance to do it again, we'd do it in a heartbeat.
Enjoy, and Happy Cruising!
