Loano is a comune in the Province of Savona in the Italian region Liguria, located about 60 kilometres southwest of Genoa and about 30 kilometres southwest of Savona. As of 31 December 2015, it had a population of 11 407 and an area of 13.5 square kilometres (5.2 sq mi). The municipality of Loano contains the frazione (subdivision) Verzi. Loano borders the following municipalities: Bardineto, Boissano, Borghetto Santo Spirito, and Pietra Ligure.
Loano ( Löa in the Ligurian dialect) is a municipality in the province of Savona that is a great tourist attraction due to its beautiful beaches and tourist port. Its historical town center is full of history and imposing palaces, decorated with frescoes and rich with traditional craftsmen’s workshops and clustered with several small shops where you can find typical products of the area. It is worth mentioning that there is also the splendid Madonna di Loreto promenade, between sea and tropically-perfumed palm trees.
The beach, stretching for two kilometers is also very suggestive and it is situated east of the breakwater, due to its sand mixed with gravel in front of a sea considered to be amongst the most suggestive of the Ligurian Riviera. Its fauna is still uncontaminated in extremely clear waters rich with mullet, white bream, sea bream, octopi, squid, eels, straccini and many other species, also those passing through these waters. During a boat trip, in autumn and spring, you can often see dolphins in open sea.
In a certain way, the tourist port represents the continuation of the local maritime tradition. Today, it is a small, yet very welcoming port for leisure boaters, equipped with four jetties, with sea beds ranging from 2 to 4 metres deep that can host more than 100 boats, both those fitted with sails and those with engines with facilities including fresh water, fuel, various maintenance services and electricity.

San Remo, Italy - Must See Places
San Remo, Italy - Must See Places - Things to see in San Remo
San Remo is a beautiful town on the west coast of Italy. It's in the province of Liguria. San Remo is the capital town of the Riviera dei Fiori or Riviera of Flowers. The flower market is one of Europe’s largest and is worth catching. It’s famous for a very popular Italian music festival that takes place there every spring. San Remo is full of gardens, great architecture and gorgeous vistas. The clean sea and the sandy beaches of San Remo are perfect for spending pleasant hours with the family.
Things to do and see in San Remo:
The Casino of San Remo has always been one of the main attractions of the town. Built in 1905 this large white building stands out proudly, enticing those who wish to try their luck. The casino was designed in its current Art-Nouveau style by the French architect Eugenio Ferret.
The San Remo Music Festival is worth checking out if you’re in the city of San Remo during the dates the festival occurs. The competition takes place inside of the Ariston Theatre.
La Pigna, the Pinecone, is the oldest part of the city. The district of La Pigna dates back to the 11th century. La Pigna's tiny streets and covered alleyways wind up the hill to the gardens and sanctuary at the top. A labyrinth of secret shortcuts, stacked houses, tunnels and narrow passages, leading to the highest point of the city, the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Costa.
Madonna della Costa Sanctuary, on the hilltop above La Pigna, can be seen from most places in San Remo and is a symbol of the city. A beautiful cobblestone mosaic dating from 1651 leads the way to the sanctuary. The dome atop the sanctuary was erected between 1770 and 1775.
One of the city's landmarks, a witness to the presence of a Russian community in Sanremo is the Russian Orthodox Church. A church wanted by Tsarina Maria Alexandrovna after her visit in Sanremo and built 30 years after her death in 1913. There are busts representing the king of Italy Vittorio Emanuele III and his wife, Elena of Montenegro, daughter of Nicholas I in front of the church.
The Gardens of Queen Elena are on top of the hill above La Pigna. Created in 1890 are filled with informal clusters of thick trees and idyllic walkways. From there you will love the breathtaking view on the roofs of the old town and the Gulf of Sanremo.
Near the old port of San Remo is the Fort of Santa Tecla. Fort of Santa Tecla in San Remo was between 1864 and 1997 in use as a prison. After being used as a prison for many years and now the fort is being completely renovated and will be used for tourism and cultural purposes.
On the northern corner of Piazza Eroi Sanremesi there are public markets. This covered market is the pulse of San Remo. It offers fruits and vegetables, cheeses, bread, home made pastas, fish and wines. Outside you get (on Thuesday and Saturday) a range of clothing and leather for good prices. With many things to do and see in San Remo, it is a very popular tourist city in Italy. Whether you’re looking for arts, music or history, the city has something for everyone. With its harbor full of restaurants and cafes, San Remo is sure to be a place worth visiting if you’re looking for a great place to spend a day or two.

Places to see in ( Savona - Italy )
Savona is a port city in Liguria, northwest Italy. The 1500s Priamar Fortress houses the Sandro Pertini Museum, with works by Guttuso and Miró. A 17th-century statue of Mary adorns the medieval tower Torre Leon Pancaldo. The Ceramics Museum spans the 15th century to the present. Northwest, Colle di Cadibona pass marks the start of a stretch on the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri trekking route, with sea and mountain views.
From Varazze to Andora, it is 598 sq. mi. of coast, valleys and mountains. Here, winter or summer, life is lived amongst the blue sea and the green of olives and pines. A territory with unique panoramas and a mild climate eased by the sea allows for comfortable living all year-round on the Riviera. Expansive sandy beaches alternate with rocky promontories encapsulating suggestive, uncontaminated shores. Vivacious coastal resorts offer guests a vast choice of where to stay, where to dine and where to go for a night out; whether in beach resorts, restaurants and clubs, there is always the option of environments suitable for both children and adults.
The towns' historical centers, with their characteristic narrow streets (carruggi) that open out onto sunny little piazzas and wind past houses with façades of typical Mediterranean colors and unique architectural elements. Here lie the towns of Alassio, with its beach of very fine sand and its famous Muretto; Loano and its artistic fountains; Pietra Ligure with its monumental square; Finale Ligure and its ample palm-lined seafront; Varigotti with its old center of colorful houses right on the waterfront; and Spotorno, celebrated by Sbarbaro and Varazze and boasting a modern marina.
Medieval Savona offers enchanting views recalling the florid city it became between the 15th and 16th Centuries. This was when Popes originated from the local Della Rovere Family. Next to the old resides a modern city with a renewed docks and fashionable attractions. The Pinacoteca Civica di Savona is an excellent Ligurian gallery of paintings on wood and splendid polyptychs, ceramic vases and wooden sculpture work, dating from the 14th Century to the current day.
The historical center of Albenga stands out with its towers and alleyways between medieval palazzi that house museums and art collections. The Battistero or Baptistry is one of the most important early Christian monuments in Liguria. Eight of the towns here are listed among the most beautiful in Italy: Noli, an ancient maritime republic; Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena, developed around its castle; Finalborgo, a mMedieval jewel; Millesimo, with its fortified “Gaietta” Bridge; Colletta di Castelbianco, the first on-line village in Europe; Laigueglia, a colorful fishing village; Zuccarello, with its porticoed street; and Verezzi, a natural stage for its Festival Teatrale Internazionale.
The Italian Touring Club has also given its special Orange Flag award to Sassello, Toirano and Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena for their development policies that promote their cultural, touristic and environmental heritage. Toirano and Borgio Verezzi are famous for their grottos, rich in archaeological finds and fascinating rock formations. Artistic handicraft is marvellously expressed by the ceramics of Albisola and Savona, and the glass works of Altare. Thanks to the ancient tradition of nimble craftsmen, these creations are known throughout the world.
