Masio is a comune in the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 60 kilometres southeast of Turin and about 20 kilometres southwest of Alessandria. Masio borders the following municipalities: Cerro Tanaro, Cortiglione, Felizzano, Incisa Scapaccino, Oviglio, Quattordio, and Rocchetta Tanaro.

It has been so named since the 16th century, but was previously called the Lago di San Giulio, after Saint Julius , the patron saint of the region. Its southern end is about 35 kilometres by rail, to the northwest of Novara on the main Turin-Milan line, while its north end is about 6 kilometres by rail south of the Gravellona-Toce railway station, halfway between Ornavasso and Omegna. Orta San Giulio is a town and comune in the Province of Novara in the Italian region of Piedmont, located about 100 kilometres northeast of Turin and about 40 kilometres northwest of Novara. The town itself is built on a promontory which juts out from the eastern bank of Lake Orta close to Isola San Giulio, an island which also falls within the municipal boundaries.
