La Défense is a major business district just west of the city limits of Paris. It is part of the Paris Metropolitan Area in the Île-de-France region, located in the department Hauts-de-Seine spread across the commune of Courbevoie, as well as parts of Puteaux and Nanterre.
La Défense is Europe's largest purpose-built business district with 560 hectares (1,400 acres) of area, 72 glass and steel buildings (of which 19 are completed skyscrapers), 180,000 daily workers, and 3,500,000 square metres (38,000,000 sq ft) of office space. Around its Grande Arche and esplanade (le Parvis), La Défense contains many of the Paris urban area's tallest high-rises.
The district is located at the westernmost extremity of the 10-kilometre-long (6.2 mi) Historical Axis of Paris, which starts at the Louvre in Central Paris and continues along the Champs-Élysées, well beyond the Arc de Triomphe along the Avenue de la Grande Armée before culminating at La Défense. The district is centred in an orbital motorway straddling the Hauts-de-Seine département municipalities of Courbevoie, Nanterre, and Puteaux. La Défense is primarily a business district and hosts a population of 25,000 permanent residents and 45,000 students. La Défense is also visited by 8,000,000 tourists each year and houses an open-air museum.
La Défense is named after the statue La Défense de Paris by Louis-Ernest Barrias, which was erected in 1883 to commemorate the soldiers who had defended Paris during the Franco-Prussian War.
In September 1958, The Public Establishment for Installation of La Défense (fr) (EPAD) buildings (of which the Esso Tower was the very first) were built and began to slowly replace the city's factories, shanties, and even a few farms.
It launched high-profile international competitions and/or construction greenlight of several key 300-to-320-metre (980 to 1,050 ft) tall sustainable development-style skyscrapers such as Tour Signal, Tour Phare, Hermitage Plaza, and Tour Generali. During said December 2005 Press Conference, EPAD released to the public an elaborate 3D animation film titled La Défense 2015.

Questo video è dedicato alla città di Parigi da me visitata nell’Agosto del 2015. In breve: sono partito dall’aeroporto di Venezia con direzione aeroporto di Parigi Orly, con la compagnia aerea EasyJet.
Il tempo a Venezia non era dei migliori. Pioggia e vento. Fortunatamente a Parigi invece neanche una nuvola, ottima l’accoglienza ad un single nella città degli innamorati!!!
Neanche il tempo di mettere piedi in Francia che subito mi dirigo verso l’Hotel per posare i bagagli. Un bus di fronte all’aeroporto mi porta direttamente alla stazione della metropolitana. Salgo su quest’ultima in direzione Marie de Montrouge.
Nei giorni seguenti il mio viaggio si è svolto per lo più passeggiando a piedi… il contapassi dello smartphone a fine viaggio mi indicava di aver camminato per circa 150Km.
La prima tappa è stata la Torre Eiffel. Sono partito presto dall’hotel in quanto le guide online consigliano (per chi vuole salire sulla torre) di non arrivare nelle ore di punta.
Alle 9 mi trovavo già sotto la torre in fila (breve circa 15-20min) per salire sull’ascensore che porta al secondo piano della Torre. Mi fermo li a scattare un po di foto, ma avendo pagato il biglietto per salire in cima, prendo il secondo ascensore ed arrivo sul punto più alto della torre (circa 320mt).
La giornata era un poco nuvolosa, alcune nuvole coprivano Parigi, ma la vista nonostante tutto era davvero eccezionale. Torno giù a dare un’occhiata al secondo piano ai negozietti all’interno della torre.
Il mio viaggio continua girando a piedi tutti i posti limitrofi alla torre che costeggiano il fiume Senna.
L’aspetto che mi colpisce ancora oggi è che se penso alla torre Eiffel ho diversi ricordi ambientali dello stesso posso.
Mi spiego meglio. In 3 giorni diversi sono passato sotto la torre e ogni giorno ho avuto delle sensazioni diverse dello stesso posto… L’immensità della torre e dei giardini attorno, il fiume Senna prima visto dell’alto e poi navigato con il battello… davvero dei ricordi magici (difficile spiegarli a parole).
Ma Parigi non è solo la torre Eiffel. La Basilica di Notre Dame, prima visitata all’interno, poi visitata dalla torre in alto. Un panorama anch’esso mozzafiato. Le statue in pietra dei Gargoylles che guardano e vegliano la città di Parigi, la torre Eiffel vista in lontananza. Il fiume proprio sotto la Basilica… davvero un’esperienza da vivere.
Successivamente sempre a piedi sono andato alla volta dell’arco di trionfo e Champs Elisee (anche se nel video non vengono mostrati). La strada per eccellenza più lussuosa di Parigi. Le grandi firme, negozi di abbigliamento, di macchine e di qualsiasi altro lusso sono tutti concentrati li.
Usando la metropolitana (poiché non al centro di Parigi) un altro posto da visitare è la Basilica di Montmartre. Altro sito davvero bello da visitare e ottima vista della città di Parigi anche se in lontananza e soprattutto da visitare sono i vicoli che si trovano in quella zona, che richiamano l’epoca dell’antica Parigi.
Sempre al centro di Parigi è possibile salire sul grattacielo Montparnasse, al 56 esimo piano. Forse sono state le ore più belle a Parigi. Restandomene tranquillo sulla terrazza del grattacielo e vedendo il sole tramontare e pian piano la città colorarsi in modalità notturna. La Torre Eiffel che si illumina, le chiese , il louvre, sono uno spettacolo meraviglioso.
Nei giorni seguenti sono stato anche a visitare il Museo Louvre. Meta ambita da tutti i turisti. Il quadro della Monnalisa è letteralmente assaltato da tantissimi turisti che entrano secondo me nel museo solo per questa grande opera d’arte. Il museo è eccezionale… immenso!
Il viaggio non finisce qui… per questo video è tutto…. nel prossimo video vi racconterò un’altra parte di questo favoloso viaggio low-cost di 6 giorni.

Montmartre Cemetery is a cemetery in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, France, that dates to the early 19th century. Officially known as the Cimitière du Nord, it is the third largest necropolis in Paris, after the Père Lachaise cemetery and the Montparnasse cemetery.
In the mid-18th century, overcrowding in the cemeteries of Paris had created numerous problems, from impossibly high funeral costs to unsanitary living conditions in the surrounding neighborhoods.
In the 1780s, the Cimetière des Innocents was officially closed and citizens were banned from burying corpses within the city limits of Paris. During the early 19th century, new cemeteries were constructed outside the precincts of the capital: Montmartre in the north, Père Lachaise Cemetery in the east, Passy Cemetery in the west and Montparnasse Cemetery in the south.
The Montmartre Cemetery was opened on January 1, 1825. It was initially known as la Cimetière des Grandes Carrières (Cemetery of the Large Quarries). The name referenced the cemetery's unique location, in an abandoned gypsum quarry. The quarry had previously been used during the French Revolution as a mass grave.
It was built below street level, in the hollow of an abandoned gypsum quarry located west of the Butte near the beginning of Rue Caulaincourt in Place de Clichy. As is still the case today, its sole entrance was constructed on Avenue Rachel under Rue Caulaincourt. A popular tourist destination, Montmartre Cemetery is the final resting place of many famous artists who lived and worked in the Montmartre area.
