FRANCE IN THE SUMMER, WHAT IT IS LIKE
My nabe is right outside of Paris, France. It is called Quartier Saint-Rémy or Saint-Rémi, and it is way cool. You should stay at the Hotel Formule 1 (F1) on Avenue Lenine in Saint-Denis, cuz it is only 39 euros per night. (I have a video up about this place.) The rooms are no-frills, with a shower and toilet in the hall, but the beds are surprisingly comfortable and you can be pretty snug in there. I hope you get a room overlooking the cemetery, cuz it is quiet! The rooms overlooking the avenue are fine but darn noisy. You can easily ride the 13 métro into Paris, or take the 153 bus to Port de La Chapelle in Paris, and get on a métro there. I really like it. The 255 bus from Saint-Denis leaves from over by Place 8 mai and that takes you to the fabulous flea markets in Clignancourt! And you can get the bus BACK to Saint-Denis there, it is just kind of a drag cuz that bus only runs about twice an hour, and it tends to be crowded, but the flea markets are a GREAT place to visit on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Django Reinhartdt's grandson jams in a bar there, and you can sing along or even jam with Les Manouches if you want! I will be happy to escort you there -- you'll never find your way around in there alone, and it is really fun!

A lot of people don't understand that France shuts down in the summer. A lot of Europe is this way. Late August is very quiet indeed, and the prices are high. Come in January, March or September for a way better and cheaper time -- January is the cheapest cuz it is cold and dark here, but great for museums and cafés and indoor stuff.
Thinking of moving to France? Want to speak French? I can legally sell you lessons, over the phone and via the 'Net. I specialize in crash courses on living here and on having a great visit and speaking basic daily French which is useful. I have ten years of experience. You can also buy a copy of my diary, FIRST YEAR IN PARIS 1994-95 for the nuts and bolts of how it was for me to move here. I pay taxes and declare this income, BTW. I am American and French and I vote and fill out tax forms in both countries! So it could be a legit write-off for you, and it certainly is a bargain! I am good, face it! Ha ha!
My other YouTube channel is CUTECATFAITH, and I do Dailymotion videos. Type LisaFalour to see them. I usually do not do duplicate postings, but sometimes there are exceptions.
Do you need a psychic rune reader? I'm your man, so to speak! I am not a lawyer nor am I a registered investment advisor now, but I WAS before and I can ADVISE you or refer you.
I have a lotta stuff for sale. GERMBookstore@aol.com sells BIKINI GIRL online. It's fun, try it! MoMA's book MODERN WOMEN is out and I am in there on six pages, with three color plates, as Lisa Baumgardner, my maiden name.
FREAK WAVE 2 is about to come out and I am in there, too!

Fleamarket - Porte de Vanves. Paris, France.
On the opposite side of Paris to the antiques market in the north, this market is far more interesting if you are looking for small antiques, bric a brac, or brocante. There are more items of ethnic origin as the newly arrived sell off some of their treasures brought into France.
There are dealers but it is more of a public car boot type of atmosphere. If you take photographs be aware that the dealer might stand in front of you, something to hide perhaps?

Paris Markets: Marché Edgar Quinet in Montparnasse
Exploring the Marché Edgar Quinet in Montparnasse and unravelling the secret of Moules de Bouchot.
Well, here we are, back at the Montparnasse Tower, but this time we're at the Edgar Quinet market in Allée Georges Besse on a Saturday morning. The Marché Edgar Quinet is a fairly large open market operating along the median strip of the Boulevard Edgar Quinet. If you like visiting Paris markets, Marché Edgar Quinet is another colourful market to check out. The market is held every Saturday and Wednesday and you do need to get there early. And you can find out about the Moules de Bouchot.

Perpignan, France - Cassanyes Flea Market
The Cassanyes Flea Market takes place from Wednesday to Sunday mornings only. We stumbled on it after getting hopelessly lost in the maze of medieval Perpignan streets and were so happy we did!
Paella, umpteen varieties of olives, chickens turning on the spit, cheese, fresh fruit and vegetables, oysters, mussels and so much more. Even although we'd just finished eating breakfast, drool was dripping and salivary glands working overtime. Never know what you are going to come across. Food, glorious food....
