Rogaland [²ruːɡɑlɑn] is a county in Western Norway, bordering Hordaland, Telemark, Aust-Agder, and Vest-Agder counties. Rogaland is the center of the Norwegian petroleum industry. In 2016, Rogaland had an unemployment rate of 4.9%, one of the highest in Norway. In 2015, Rogaland had a fertility rate of 1.78 children per woman, which is the highest in the country.The Diocese of Stavanger for the Church of Norway includes all of Rogaland county.

  • 2. Old Stavanger Stavanger
    Old Pine Trees is a painting by Lars Hertervig from 1865. Lars Hertervig painted Old Pine Trees at the age of 35 in Stavanger. He then worked in a carpentry and paint shop in the town, after studying the art of painting a few years at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf for Hans Gude. He had also visited England and the Mediterranean countries.

    Jæren is a traditional district in Rogaland county, Norway. The others districts in Rogaland are Dalane, Ryfylke, and Haugalandet. Jæren is one of the 15 districts that comprise Western Norway. At about 700 square kilometres , Jæren is the largest flat lowland area in Norway, stretching from the municipality of Randaberg in the north to Hå in the south. It includes the whole Stavanger Peninsula and the mainland area at its base. The coast is flat compared to the rest of the very mountainous Norwegian coast, and it has sandy beaches along most of the coastline. The largest urban area in Jæren is the adjoining cities of Stavanger/Sandnes .

    Utstein Abbey is Norway's best-preserved medieval monastery. It is located on the southern shore of the island of Klosterøy in Rennesøy municipality, Rogaland county. It was built in the late 1200s. Utstein Church is located on the grounds of the abbey.
