Ruovesi is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the Pirkanmaa region. The municipality has a population of 4,409 and covers an area of 950.16 square kilometres of which 173.97 km2 is water. The population density is 5.68 inhabitants per square kilometre . Neighbouring municipalities are Juupajoki, Mänttä-Vilppula, Orivesi, Tampere, Virrat and Ylöjärvi. The municipality is unilingually Finnish. Helvetinjärvi National Park is located in Ruovesi. The biggest lake in the area of the municipality is Lake Ruovesi. The educational department takes part in Lifelong Learning Programme 2007–2013 in Finland.

    Ähtäri is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Southern Ostrobothnia region. The town has a population of 5,788 and covers an area of 910.87 square kilometres of which 105 km2 is water. The population density is 7.19 inhabitants per square kilometre . The municipality is unilingual Finnish. Ähtäri is known for its zoo and hotel Mesikämmen designed by Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen which is partly built within bedrock. The biggest lake in the area is Ähtärinjärvi. There is also a relatively old and small board mill called Vääräkosken Pahvi in Ähtäri. The largest private sector employers are Inhan Tehtaat, Silver-Veneet, Tankki, and Muovilami.
