Saint Marcouf , Abbot of Nantus in the Cotentin, is a saint born in the Saxon colony of Bayeux in Normandy around 500 AD and who is best known for the healing of scrofula. The accounts of his life are merged with that of St. Helier, whom he sent to convert the inhabitants of Jersey to Christianity. He also visited Jersey himself, where miracles are ascribed to him. He died on May 1, 558, in the Îles Saint-Marcouf off the east coast of the Cotentin Peninsula. His relics were transferred to the abbey of Corbény in Champagne, where they played a part in the coronation ceremonies of kings of France, crowned at Reims, and the tradition of royal touch. The...

In 2007, the American Battle Monuments Commission dedicated a new $30 million, 30,000 sf Visitors Center at the cemetery, relating the global significance and meaning of Operation Overlord.

La toma del puente sobre el canal de Caen conocido como PEGASUS BRIDGE, fue una de las misiones más exitosas de todo el Día-D. El mayor John Howard lideró 180 soldados aerotransportados británicos que en lugar de saltar en paracaídas aterrizaron en unas aeronaves sin motor, los planeadores.

Hoy de la mano de MARK WORTHINGTON, conservador del MEMORIAL PEGASUS, visitaremos el museo para conocer al detalle la exitosa misión del mayor Howard y sus hombres.

LA BATALLA DE CARENTAN (Normandía)

La batalla de CARENTAN fue la primera ocasión en que la división aerotransportada americana 101 combatió como una fuerza en conjunto. La toma de esta ciudad era necesaria para poder unir los sectores de Utah y Omaha Beach. Pero en frente, los paracaidistas alemanes, los Fallschirmjäger del 6º Regimiento, no se lo pondrían nada fácil.

Hoy guripas, acompañados por DENIS VAN DEN BRINK, nuestro amigo experto en las unidades aerotransportadas americanas, descubriremos todos los lugares relacionados con la toma de Carentan.

LA BATERÍA DE AZEVILLE (Normandía)

Hoy visitamos la BATERÍA DE COSTA ALEMANA DE AZEVILLE, una de las primeras fortificaciones del Muro del Atlántico en Francia. Sus cuatro cañones no contaban con visión del mar, por lo que el puesto de corrección de tiro se encontraba en la vecina batería de Crisbecq.

Il museo e' ricco di cimeli con una grande quantità di mezzi e documenti fotografici.
Ripercorre i 77 giorni di combattimenti che videro fronteggiarsi Alleati e Tedeschi sul suolo di Normandia dopo il 6 giugno.
Va sicuramente visitato sotto vi riporto il sito ufficiale del museo

LA BATERÍA ALEMANA DE MAISY (Grandcamp-Maisy, Normandía)

La batería de Maisy se componía en realidad de dos baterías del regimiento de artillería alemán 1716, además de una tercera posición más al sur.

Hoy nos recibe DANIEL STERNE para contarnos todos los detalles acerca de esta batería, pero no solo de los eventos de 1944 sino también para conocer cómo se convirtió en el museo que es hoy en día.
