Built by a French Officer in 1842, after returning from the North African Colonisation Campaign, this stone built property is bright, spacious and inviting, with lots of natural charm. The Living room is warm and inviting with a lovely wooden floor, some magnificent walnut cupboards and open fireplace. The kitchen has a large chimney where the Aga is located, 2 big windows looking out onto the garden and the first set of stairs, which lead to a landing area and 2 double bedrooms (one with ensuite, dressing room and large balcony), together with a bathroom. Back on the ground floor, the large Dining Room is a lovely light and airy room with an open fireplace, window to the front and doors to the front and back of the property. From this room, there is a winding staircase leading to the second landing area and access to a further bathroom with shower cubicle and 2 good sized bedrooms. From this landing area, the third floor of the house can be accessed, which is currently used as a storage area, but could easily be converted into further bedrooms or accomodation. At present, this property sleeps up to 10 people. Attached to the property is a 2-storey barn, together with a number of outbuildings / stables and enclosed garage which can accomodate 2 vehicles and houses the central heating system. Included in the sale is a separate building (90m2), which could be converted into accomodation or used for storage and was used years ago for drying tobacco. The property looks onto farmland and the Dordogne Hills and has a large garden to the rear, mainly set to lawn, with various fruit, walnut trees and an ancient pine tree, which was originally planted by the french officer who built the property. This property is situated within the Perigord Noir region and is surrounded by beauty and national interest. It is only a short drive from popular tourist attractions such as Sarlat and Rocamadour and there is plenty to do and see. The Dordogne river enables beautiful landscapes, walks and canoe trips - a very well located property!
