Lago San Pablo Lake - Imbabura, Ecuador
A short visit to San Pablo Lake just outside of Otavalo. I think I may go back and stay for a few days in the summertime. What you see here is in the off season - cool 22˚ Celcius. If you get a tour guide as good as this guy, your trips will be great. He was very good in explaining things.

Day3 (San Pablo Lake) - Cabañas del Lago arrival on 10 Day Ecuador & Amazon Adventure (May 2014)
Shortly after 4pm on Saturday afternoon (May 24, 2014), our Gate1 tour bus left the gorgeous Peguche waterfall, heading back to the Lake San Pablo for our hotel accommodations for the night.
By 4:35PM, we reached a FABULOUS lake lodge located in the skirts of the Imbabura Volcano and the shore of the magnificent San Pablo Lake --

We received such a warm welcome to this wonderful corner of Ecuador = the fantastic Cabañas del Lago!

Once we got our KEYS to the contemporary rustic cottages, we were guided to our rooms by one of the lovely ladies that welcomed us to Cabañas del Lago!
(more on the rooms later, in a separate episode!)
We absolutely felt in LOVE with this magnificent place!!!
The rustic cottages were built with local materials (such as: wood logs, straw, tile and traditional mats from the San Pablo Lake).
Our hosts are thinking about guests' convenience, so each ROOM had one king-size bed (or multiple beds) with duvet (and also an additional soft but warm blanket), wrap-around couch, Plasma TV/ Direct TV, and a bathrooms with plate, walk-in shower and hair dryer; finally, a fabulous fireplace/ chimney (which they lit while we were at dinner)!
* While the resort does NOT have computers, they do have wi-fi in the lobby and restaurant.
** Note that US travelers DO NOT need an adapter and we had NO problems in Ecuador at ANY of the locations during this trip!
(all electronics were charged and plugged-in like home basically!)
Two (2) bottles of WATER were available & complimentary in each room.
A cozy terrace (in front of the room) offered great views of the interior, well-manicured garden or views to the beautiful lake (Lago San Pablo).
However, the best view of Lake San Pablo was from the RESTAURANT -- it has rooms with large windows and outdoors open spaces at the foot of the Lake, a breathtaking landscape of Ecuador!
We'll talk (and show) later on the dinner, but note this place's Philosophy:
We use 100% natural ingredients, preserving the freshness, quality and variety that characterizes the cuisine of the Cabañas del Lago.
Finally, pictured here are the MINI-GOLF area, the water sports/ activities and upstairs, inside the restaurant, there is a conference room where parties can also be organized (seen bit of the neighborhood too, including private homes and the famous Imbabura Volcano).

Day4 (San Pablo Lake) - morning at Cabañas del Lago on 10 Day Ecuador & Amazon Adventure (May 2014)

We absolutely felt in LOVE with this magnificent place!!!
Sunday morning at SUNRISE (May 25th 2014), we took a quick tour of the well manicured grounds.
(we were scheduled to hit the road by 8:30AM that morning)
Then, starting at 7:30AM, we enjoyed an excellent BREAKFAST inside the rustic restaurant.
Fresh food, wonderful service and breathtaking views as the restaurant is located by the foot of the San Pablo Lake, a fabulous landscape of Ecuador!
Fresh coffee and natural fruit juices (orange juice and blackberry juice), eggs or omelets, home fries made of Yuca potato, pancakes, cereals, yogurt, delicious home-made jam, and PLENTY of fresh fruits (i.e. bananas, papaya, and couple of Ecuadorian fruits too).
The rustic cottages were built with local materials (such as: wood logs, straw, tile and traditional mats from the San Pablo Lake).

Pictured HERE are some of the WATER sports/ activities, including Abigail's Dad, Thomas, being such a good sport by getting up on the platform and jumping first so his daughter can get the courage to do it too!

Quito to Andes Part 1
This video starts in Quito, Ecuador. After a tour of the city we traveled to the Middle of the Earth Park which lets you have one foot in the northern Hemisphere and on foot in the southern Hemisphere. Then we traveled up into the Andes Mountains ending the day at Cabanas del Lago Resort located at the base of a volcano on a lake. In the morning we visited a very large waterfall. That evening we stayed at Papallacta's Resort, Spa, and Hot Springs.
