Barcelona! After a few days in the Spanish capital, we headed over to Catalunya to see what this popular seaside city has to offer. We ended up discovering an eclectic mix of funky architecture, distinct neighbourhoods, and stretches of golden beaches. It was vibrant, it was stylish, and it was addicting. Here's a look at what we got up to during our visit to this world class city.

This week we are exploring another Spanish city. We are in Barcelona and this video is going to highlight 25 things to do here.
It is kind of hard to believe our time in Barcelona has expired. So final thoughts.
Well, it was a really fun city to visit. Great architecture, really nice beaches. It is very lively especially at night. The only downfall is that we were here in the middle of summer so it was super hot and super crowded and sometimes that made it a little bit difficult to enjoy. Especially at midday or in the mid-afternoon. So keep that in mind. Maybe consider visiting in the springtime, fall, winter.
Well, so what did you think of the city?
It is definitely a fun city. We had a lot of fun going to the beaches. One thing that is really different about this city compared to some other European cities though is that it is really spread out. In order for us to visit all of these different attractions we had to chunk them together into groups to visit them day by day. Overall, it was a decent city. It didn't quite click with me the same way that Madrid did. But that is just personal preference I suppose.
And that is a wrap for Barcelona! Our 5 days in the city flew by, and while this guide didn't cover everything, we hope we were able to give you a feel of what this fun seaside city has to offer. Occurs on June 24th every year.
June 24th, known as San Juan, is celebrated throughout Spain. It is also the longest day of the year, or midsummer day. City wide celebrations take place in Barcelona on the eve of San Juan. Streets are heavily decorated, the event is celebrated with loads of color, bonfire, and fireworks.
The old tradition of burning useless objects to celebrate the summer solstice is still followed. The best place to enjoy this festival is at beaches where it is most crowded. People from all ages celebrate with party and crackers thoroughout the night. During the day they eat traditional coca and drink wine.
The Tradition of the Coca, where does it come from? It has always been like this, it has always been made like this, with fruits, various fillings like custard cream, it has always been a tradition. Yes, everyone goes to the beach, everyone wishes each other well, positive thoughts and then go swimming and you burn the bad thoughts. I am Montse Triola with my coca, showing you Barcelona.
Nit de Sant Joan Festival | Barcelona
The Sant Joan festival has many names, but in Catalonia and Barcelona it is most often called the Nit de Sant Joan which means St John's Night or St. John's Eve. You also often hear it called 'La revetlla de Sant Joan' in Catalan or in Spanish 'Verbenas de Sant Joan.' And even just 'Nit de Foc' - night of fire which describe Sant Joan perfectly. All these names refer to the same event - the festival feast of Saint John the Baptist which celebrates the solstice Spanish midsummers eve during the evening and night of 23rd June every year.
Sant Joan is one of Barcelona's biggest parties and the noisiest and possibly the craziest. It's a night of Fire, Fireworks, Coca cakes and Cava, but not of sleep. You will not get much sleep on the night of 23rd June in Barcelona, so you might as well join the party. There are no major public fireworks displays at Sant Joan in Barcelona. Many tourists like to join or watch the festivities around the city. Around 70,000 people celebrate Sant Joan celebrations on one of the Barcelona beaches.
