Selb is a town in the district of Wunsiedel, in Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. It is situated in the Fichtelgebirge, on the border with the Czech Republic, 20 km northwest of Cheb and 23 km southeast of Hof. Selb is well known for its porcelain manufacture, and is the home of the Rosenthal factory, founded in 1879 by Philipp Rosenthal as a family business.

1. Walhalla Donaustauf
The Walhalla is a hall of fame that honors laudable and distinguished people in German history – politicians, sovereigns, scientists and artists of the German tongue; thus the celebrities honored are drawn from Greater Germany, a wider area than today's Germany, and even as far away as Britain in the case of several Anglo-Saxons who are honored. The hall is a neo-classical building above the Danube River, east of Regensburg in Bavaria. The Walhalla is named for the Valhalla of Norse Paganism. It was conceived in 1807 by Crown Prince Ludwig in order to support the gathering momentum for the unification of the many German states. 2. Colditz Castle Colditz
Castle Colditz is a Renaissance castle in the town of Colditz near Leipzig, Dresden and Chemnitz in the state of Saxony in Germany. The castle is between the towns of Hartha and Grimma on a hill spur over the river Zwickauer Mulde, a tributary of the River Elbe. It had the first wildlife park in Germany when, during 1523, the castle park was converted into one of the largest menageries in Europe. The castle gained international fame as the site of Oflag IV-C, a prisoner-of-war camp during World War II for incorrigible Allied officers who had repeatedly escaped from other camps.

Berlin’s renowned stage for musicals can be found on bustling Kantstraße just a few steps from the Zoologischer Garten station. Opened in 1896, this magnificent Wilhelminian building boasts a long and rich stage tradition matched by few other theatres in Germany. Since 2003, the Theater des Westens has been hosting a mix of German-language versions of international smash-hit musicals from We will rock you to Mamma Mia as well as such home-grown classics as the Udo Jürgens’ musical Ich war noch niemals in New York or a musical version of the popular movie Schuh des Manitu.

The theatre first opened its doors in 1896 with a production of The Thousand and One Nights. By the 1920s, the focus was largely on opera and operetta. Under the Nazi regime, the theatre was renamed the Volksoper. When it was badly damaged in the air raids during the last years of the war, performances were moved to other venues. In the post-war years, the building was provisionally repaired and with the Städtische Oper Berlin’s traditional venue still unusable, the opera ensemble moved in. In 1961, the ensemble took up residence in the new and impressive Deutsche Oper in Bismarckstraße, and the theatre revitalised its tradition of focusing on musicals.

It celebrated its 65th anniversary with the première of My Fair Lady in a German-language version – a massive hit which enjoyed an unbroken run of two years. In 1985, the theatre landed a similarly sensational success with the German-language première of the musical La Cage Aux Folles. Since 2003, the theatre has been managed by the Stage Entertainment production company.

Porzellanikon in Selb is located in a former Rosenthal factory which closed down in 1969. More than 9,000 m2 of the converted industrial site is today home to three separate museums.
Founded in 1866 by Jakob Zeidler and situated right next to the Hof-Selb railway line which is still in use, in 1917 the company passed into the hands of Philipp Rosenthal, under whose guidance it flourished. The tradition was carried on by his visionary son. After the 1970s the building stood empty, only to be restored to its original condition in the early 1990s, as an industrial monument drawing on the latest thinking regarding the preservation of historic buildings. Bavaria's first industrial museum has all the demure charm of the former 19th century factory... Back in 1982 Porzellanikon and the German Porcelain Museum found a home for themselves in Hohenberg a.d.Eger, in an old, traditional building, the villa that once belonged to the director of the family-owned company C.M. Hutschenreuther.
