The Epic Drive Experience On The Italian Mountain Pass. TOP Gear defines Italy's Stelvio Pass:: One of the World's greatest roads. Perfectly encompasses one of Italy's most beautiful locations. The Stelvio Pass (Italian: Passo dello Stelvio) is a mountain pass in northern Italy, at an elevation of 2,757 m (9,045 ft) above sea level. It is the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps, and the second highest in the Alps.
Das Stilfser Joch, benannt nach der Ortschaft Stilfs östlich des Passes, gehörte nie zu den überregional bedeutenden Pässen – im Gegenteil, es stand bis zum Bau der Stilfser-Joch-Straße immer im Schatten des Umbrailpasses. Dieser wurde in früheren Zeiten „Wormser Joch“ genannt, nach der Ortschaft Bormio, zu deutsch Worms. Auch das Stilfser Joch nannte man einst „Wormser Steig“. Wenn auch der damalige Passverkehr über das Stilfser Joch sicher nicht rege war, wurde der Pass sicher doch immer wieder begangen. Funde lassen auf eine Nutzung in der Bronzezeit schließen.
Archäologisches Zeugnis für einen Verkehr über das Stilfser Joch scheint eine Kultstätte an den heißen Quellen von Bormio zu bieten. Dort fand man ein Fragment eines Steinreliefs, das eine überlebensgroße Götterfigur mit einem Hörnerhelm, einem Schild und Standarte zeigt. Ihr nähert sich ein Mann mit kurzem Rock und einem Messer am Gürtel, welcher ein Horn bläst. Auch er scheint eine Lanze zu halten, mit einem daran befestigten Schild, vielleicht eine Weihegabe an den Gott. Der Steinfries wurde auf das 5. bis 4. Jahrhundert v. Chr., also die Eisenzeit, datiert.

16/17-07-2011( Riprese effettuate con Videocamera Samsung HMX-H100P/EDS ) Il Passo del Tonale è punto di appoggio per numerosi itinerari alpinistici ed escursionistici che consentono di prendere contatto con la natura delle Alpi Retiche e la realtà storica della Guerra Bianca che qui ha lasciato numerosi segni ancora vivi nel paesaggio. Le montagne circostanti il Passo del Tonale furono, infatti, teatro di combattimenti durante la Prima guerra mondiale.

Il bivacco Amici della Montagna l'ho visitato e l'interno era un museo di reperti bellici recuperati dalla guida Faustinelli che ho conosciuto. Straordinario il ponte tibetano. Ma per scendere nella valle di Genova siete passati per la Lobbia Alta? Vi mancava la cima cannone che si trova nei pressi. Niente ombrelli in simili percorsi.Bel fil

Coming from Santa Monica, California I never realized is how beautiful other countries could be and in 1973 I was stationed in Germany (US Army, Nato Command, Investigations) and met my wife. Her family is from Italy and over the next 25 years I traveled throughout Europe enjoying such wonderful people, places and experiences. Hiking, skiing, enjoying wonderful food and drink. TEMU was one of my favorite places where we picked Mushrooms and drank great wine. Thank you for the experiences & Video

Roadtrip through the Alps - Austria, Slovenia, South Tyrol - Visual Vibes by TravAgSta
Another roadtrip in 2016 made us discover Austria, Slovenia and South Tyrol in Italy. On our way south we made a stop in Bad Hallstatt in Austria before continuing south to Slovenia. Amazing Triglav National Park thrilled us with Soca River, Triglav Mountains, Bovec and Tolmin and Vrsic pass. Lake Bled and Lake Bohiny make the region perfect! Ljublijana was just a short ride from there and is perfect for a short city trip.
In the end we continued our trip to South Tyrol. Lago di Praias, Tre Cime Area and Meran were on our list here.
An unforgettable trip with majestic mountain landscape, stunning lakes and lovely cities.
