Places to see in ( Ibiza - Spain ) Port des Torrent
Places to see in ( Ibiza - Spain ) Port des Torrent
Port des Torrent is set on Ibiza’s west coast at the end of San Antonio Bay. It has grown from a biscuit-tin-pretty port village in to a resort with family-friendly credentials – its gang of tavernas and activities are neither too quiet, nor too loud. Gently does it here, yet the town is only a whisper away from San Antonio’s drumbeat of cool bars and superclubs.
All roads lead down to the horseshoe-shaped bay, which is bookended by cliffs. The beach here has marshmallow-soft sand and the calm waters make it a popular spot for young families. It’s a busy little bee, with pretty much everything on tap for a great day out. Topping the list are the likes of pedalos and banana boats. For eats and drinks, there are restaurants and snack bars to hand. Umbrellas, loungers and mats can be hired, too.
For the more adventurous, chartered boats, some of them glass-bottomed, leave from Port des Torrent’s marina for the nooks and crannies of the island’s coastline. It’s even possible to sail across to Formentera to take in the views of the Mediterranean. Away from the beach, there’s loads more to do. San Antonio boasts parascending and go-karting, plus it’s the starting point for horse rides in to the Ibizan countryside. You can also count 2 waterparks and 2 golf courses within a 20-minute drive.
The island’s capital, Ibiza Town, is a 30-minute bus journey away. It fits in plenty of sights, including a 14th-century cathedral at the top of a helter-skelter twist of streets, and a fortress. Both dish up fabulous views of the harbour and Ibiza’s little sister, Formentera. Elsewhere, colossal medieval walls lasso the itsy-bitsy lanes of the UNESCO-approved old town, which is fit to bust with chic boutiques and cafés.

Enjoy A Vibrant Lifestyle In Valencia, Spain
Get the full details on Valencia, Spain in our Country Haven Report:
Valencia’s story begins around 960 with the Muslim Caliphate of Cordoba. But its history goes back even further with documented history of over 2,000 years, having been founded by the Romans around 140 B.C. In the 8th century the Moors absorbed Valencia, ruling for the next five centuries, with a brief Christian interlude in the 1090s.
Valencia’s Moorish era brought a rich period of growth in agriculture, arts, and science, laying the foundation for the city’s expansion and development for centuries.
Valencia wears its history on its architectural sleeve. Its Roman, Muslim, and early Christian past is all over, as well as its Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque city at heart. With such a rich and varied history, Valencia is a fascinating mix of cultures.
Valencia is well-located, with fantastic communications links to the rest of Europe. France and the ski-slopes of tiny, tax-free Andorra are under a five-hour drive and the rock of Gibraltar is also within easy reach.
Life in Spain is timed to fit around food and eating. The pace of life is governed by natural phenomena such as the sun and mealtimes. Food is an important part of culture here, and Valencia is known as the Orange Blossom Coast due to its extensive citrus groves.
With an average temperature of around 70°F year round, Valencia has perfect weather conditions for an active, healthy and varied lifestyle. This part of the Western Mediterranean has some of the finest beaches in southern Europe. The mountains are within easy reach and the Valencian Community offers excursions to national parks and other sites of historical and cultural interest.
To get a good sense of Valencian culture, go watch some Flamenco. This is something you should do at least once. It costs around 38 euros each, including a full dinner of several courses with a pitcher of Sangria or beer and the show.
Valencia offers theater-goers, music-lovers, and culture-vultures a plethora of variety and venues, from the Berklee affiliated Palau de la Musica (the Palace of Music) where you can hear world class jazz, to hip clubs and live-music bars.
The Valencian community is famous for its highly individualistic festivals and celebrations and many local and religious events. Museums and other cultural and historic attractions here are free or cost just a euro or two. An all-day museum pass costs 6 euros. A round of golf at any of several Valencia golf clubs costs anywhere between 30 to 75 euros.
There has been a large growth in the foreign population over the last decade, with Romanians, Bolivians, Ecuadoreans, Colombians, and Moroccans turning Valencia into a cosmopolitan city. According to the Sociedad Americano, there are 1,500 U.S. citizens officially resident in Valencia; however, it is thought that many more aren’t actually registered.
Valencia has been overlooked as a serious contender for retirement or investment, but it enjoys a wonderful climate, vibrant lifestyle, and great location and communications to the rest of Europe, on top of a highly affordable cost of living.

Ibiza (Catalan: Eivissa ) is an island in the Mediterranean Sea, 150 kilometres off the coast of the city of Valencia, in eastern Spain. It is the third largest of the Balearic Islands, an autonomous community of Spain. Its largest cities are Ibiza Town (Catalan: Vila d'Eivissa, or simply Vila), Santa Eulària des Riu, and Sant Antoni de Portmany. Its highest point, called Sa Talaiassa (or Sa Talaia), is 475 metres) above sea level.
While it is one-sixth the size of nearby Majorca, Ibiza is over five times the size of Mykonos (Greece), or ten times the size of Manhattan Island. Ibiza has become famous for the association with nightlife and the electronic music that originated on the island. It is well known for its summer club scene which attracts very large numbers of tourists, though the island's government and the Spanish Tourist Office have controversially been working to promote more family-oriented tourism.
Ibiza is considered to be a popular tourist destination, especially due to its legendary and at times riotous nightclub based nightlife centred on two areas: Ibiza Town, the island's capital on the southern shore and Sant Antoni to the West. Well-known nightclubs are Privilege, Amnesia, Space, Pacha, Es Paradís and DC10. During the summer, the top producers and DJs in dance come to the island and play at the various clubs, in between touring to other international destinations. Some of the most famous DJs run their own weekly nights around the island. Many of these DJs use Ibiza as an outlet for presenting new songs within the house, trance and techno genres of electronic dance music. The city has achieved renowned worldwide fame as a cultural center for house and trance in particular, with its name often being used as a partial metonym for the particular flavor of electronic music originating there, much like Goa in India.
The season traditionally begins at the start of June with Space and DC10's opening parties and finishes on the first weekend of October with the Closing Parties. A typical schedule for clubbers going to Ibiza includes waking at noon, early evening naps, late night clubbing, and disco sunrises. Due to Ibiza's notable tolerance toward misbehaviour from young adult tourists, it has acquired the sobriquet Gomorrah of the Med. Also well-known is Café del Mar, a long-standing bar where many ho has released more than a dozen eponymous album compilations of ambient music played at the location. That and other bars nearby have become an increasingly popular venue for club pre-parties after sunset, hosting popular DJ performers.
