Known for its beaches, its unique buildings and harbor, Port Saplaya has earned the tourist nickname “Little Venice“. It is located in the eastern part of the municipality of Alboraya, about 5 km northern from Playa de la Malvarrosa.
Very close to Valencia ( about 10 minutes by car ), Port Saplaya is ideal both for romantic couples or family vacations. With its nicely designed houses, colorful vegetation, boats, Port Saplaya is one of the best places to try horchata, traditional ice cream or tasty bocadillos de calamares with alioli sauce.
Port Saplaya has two beaches, separated by the entrance to the port. They are both public accessible and have various services. It is connected to Alboraya and Patacona by a local bus that runs every day of the week with a frequency of about one hour.
Valencia is full of surprises and here is yet another one that the canny locals try and keep for themselves, which probably explains why the area has not been ruined by over development. Just north of the city, there exists a purpose built holiday village next to the sea, with all the facilities you could ever want and much more besides, so I took a trip down there with my camera and here is what I found.
Why is it known as Little Venice? I'll come to that in a minute, but first let's set the scene, and find out what are where this place is. The resort is easily reached by the dual carriageway V-21, or by Metro tube train to Rafelbunyol and then getting a bus or taxi from the station to the beach area.
If you drive, then from Alboraya nearby, head out to the large flat areas of what they call La huerta, which is translated at the vegetable garden of Valencia. Large flat and wide plans under endless skies, and right slap bang in the middle of the chufa nut production area, the tiny little tiger nuts that go to make Valencias famous Horchata drink.

Thanks to its location, Valencia is historically a Spanish Mediterranean port and has a special charm of cities that are also seaports. And fine sand and clean water, the vastness of the ocean and the proximity of the coastal mountains make Valencian beach unique interesting.
There are incredible beaches and dunes on Canet d'En Berenguer, where the coastline is relaxed and residential, as is the case in the northern capital of Valencia, where a small tourist town (La Pobla de Farnals, Alboraya, and El Puig) has appeared where only a few years ago fruit and vegetables were planted.
In addition, still in the city of Valencia, the beaches of La Malvarrosa and Levante offer a variety of places to dine and enjoy a quiet night by the sea. In the south, nature is dominant in Saler Beach and at L’Albufera Nature Reserve, where the sun can be enjoyed in unique environments. Cullera, Gandía and Oliva beaches combine beautiful scenery with a number of sports and recreation facilities.

THE CITY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES IN VALENCIA - With Horchata (Orxata) & Turia River Bed Park
The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia is Incredible! It's home to a massive IMAX Cinema and planetarium (Hemisferic), an amazing Science Museum (El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe), and even an Aquarium (Oceanografic). The futuristic buildings look out of this world and it's a fantastic place to have a wander around.
We start of the day by trying some Horchata (Orxata), an ice cold Valencian drink made of Tiger Nuts (Chufa) and loads of sugar! It was something totally different to what we've ever had before.
Then we head of to stroll along the Turia River Bed Park, the largest urban park in all of Spain! It really is a breath of fresh air, we loved it.
Before finally making our way to the City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias). After taking in the sights, we headed inside the Science Museum and had an awesome time with all the hands-on exhibits!

This excellent urban beach is located in the north of the municipal district, between the town of Alboraya and Calle Acequia de la Cadena. Stretching over 1000 metres, La Malvarrosa is a fine sandy beach with a large promenade that is home to bars, restaurants and sports areas and equipped with numerous services. During summer seasons this boulevard is fully packed!

Many vacationers traveling to Spain is to see the country's major sites in cities like Barcelona, Madrid and Seville. But for scores of other travelers, Spain's spectacular beaches are the primary vacation draw. With hundreds of miles of coastline available, visitors can choose to sunbathe on urban beaches pulsing with people or unwind along isolated swaths of silky sand. Illas Cies Ria de Vigo, Galicia Known to locals as the Galician Caribbean, the striking Illas Cíes are a trio of pristine islands in Spain's northwest region of Galicia. The 3 islands lie partially exposed to the battering waves of the Atlantic Ocean, while their other sides face the Ria de Vigo, a tranquil estuary, and remains blissfully protected. The Cíes can be reached by ferry from the town of Vigo and visitors should head to the 2 main isles, Illa do Monte Ayudo and Illa do Faro. These islands are connected by Rodas Beach, a sliver of sand embracing a sheltered lagoon. Rodas Beach is arguably Spain's prettiest, and its sparkling blue water and powder-white sands draw scores of tourists daily. Despite their popularity, the islands remain delightfully undeveloped -- thanks to their designation as a nature preserve. Still, visitors will find a smattering of beach bars, a campground (reservations are required), a basic market and restaurant. The beautiful beach of El Bajondillo is iconic Costa del Sol. The soft sand meanders along the Mediterranean and is very close to the city of Malaga. Along the beach promenade are numerous beach bars and restaurants, amenities that are missing at some of Costa del Sol's more rocky beaches. The specialty of the area is pesca'to, or small fried fish. It's served at most restaurants lining the picturesque sandy stretch. La Carihuela is a stretch of beach along the Torremolinos municipality. Arrive early to claim your spot and wait for the village to slowly wake up, with cafes and shops opening around 11 a.m. La Carihuela is known for its cleanliness and comfy sunshade beds. When hungry, head to the chiringuitos, beach restaurants serving fresh Mediterranean seafood. The promenade hugging the beach connects to the Port of Benalmadena, where lively nightlife, stylish boutiques and delicious restaurants can be found. The North Station (Estación del Norte) is the main railway station in Valencia, Spain. It is located in the city centre next to the Plaza de Toros de Valencia, the city's bullring, and 200m from the town hall. It has connections with Metrovalencia lines 3 and 5, and the city bus network.
AVE (high-speed) trains from Madrid and some other long-distance trains use Valencia-Joaquín Sorolla railway station, a short walk away, instead.
This station is named for the Caminos de Hierro del Norte de España (Railways of the North of Spain), the railway company that constructed it and opened it in 1917, which was later nationalized and incorporated into RENFE, and later separated into Adif, the company that currently owns and runs it. It was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Good of Cultural Heritage, a type of listed monument) in 1987.
Dutch Symphonic Metal band Within Temptation performed at the station in July 2005 as a one-time event. The concert was filmed and broadcast on Spanish television.
