Wat Pa Phu Kon in Udon Thani
Wat Pa Phu Kon is one such temple. Located high in the mountains in Na Yung District, approximately 120 kilometers Northwest of Udon Thani city, the temple was built only a couple of years ago but has a lot to offer those willing and able to make the steep drive to visit it.
The main attraction, besides the beautiful and serene natural surroundings, is the 20-meter long reclining Buddha, which is made from 43 blocks of exquisite Italian Carrara Marble, each weighing about 15-30 tons and which was shipped to Thailand by boat. The cost of the statue, thought to be in excess of 50 million baht (about 1.5 million US dollars) was paid for by a very generous donation from an elderly woman in honour of the King.
Wat Pa Phu Kon’s splendid isolation and peaceful, natural environment makes it an ideal spot for some meditation, and numerous buildings have sprung up on the mountain to house groups of meditation enthusiasts, offering a perfect refuge for those seeking solitude and tranquility, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Walking Trips Kham Chanot In Udon Thani Province Thailand
Wat Kham Chanot (Thai: วัดคำชะโนด) is a buddhist temple near Ban Kham Chanot, Amphoe Ban Dung, Udon Thani Province in Northeastern Thailand. It is located in the Wang Nakhin area at a lake where the Nāga, a mythical large snake, is supposed to be living.
Nāga worsphip is one of the main issue in this small monastery. About ten monks live here permanently. It is believed that the snake has a hideaway on the island. It is connected to the other Wat premises by a bridge. The origins of the wat are located on the island.
A small zoo with turtles has been added to the monastery. Opposite of the main temple building, a permanent (rural) market for visitors is provided.

อุดรธานี Udonthani sightseeing
Udon Thani (Thai: อุดรธานี, pronounced [ʔudɔːn tʰaːniː]) is one of the four major cities (Khorat, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, and Khon Kaen) of the Isan region, Thailand, (known as the big 4 of Isan) and the capital of Udon Thani Province.
47 km east of Udon Thani is Thailand's premier Bronze Age excavation at Ban Chiang, the world-renowned archaeological site.
Although there are few attractions in the city for most travellers, there are a few interesting Buddhist temples. Within a few kilometers of Udon Thani is Wat Pa Baan That, which was home for many years to forest meditation monk, Luangta Maha Bua, known for his philanthropic endeavors such as accumulating gold and giving it to the National Treasury to benefit Thailand's citizens during the economic crisis of the late 1990s. It is said that over the course of his tenure at this temple over US$550 million was collected for the benefit of Thai citizens, be it directly or via building of hospitals and clinics. Ajahn Maha Bua died in January 2011.
The city became a bustling support center for the nearby Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base during the Vietnam War and so retains reminders of that time, with bars, coffee shops, and hotels.
In the mid-1900s, about 46,700 Vietnamese war refugees immigrated to Udon Thani. Their descendants still reside in Udon Thani and communicate with each other in Vietnamese.[1] Today, Udon Thani has the largest Vietnamese community in all of Thailand.
It also became the site of a Voice of America relay station alleged to have been a CIA black site.[1][2]
Asia Pacific Resources, a wholly owned subsidiary of Italian-Thai Development PLC, owns the concession to the Udon Thani potash mines and plans to develop them. According to press reports, Udon Thani has enough potash to mine two million tonnes per year for 25 years. Potash is one of the main components in fertilizer.

Soi Samphan Thamit, Bars, Udon Thani, February, 2019. (4k) Naughty Nightlife Asia - Vlog 34.
Soi Samphan Thamit Udon Thani, is the farang nightlife area.
There are only a few Beer Bars in Udon Thani all within a few streets of each other. Soi Sampan Thamit is the main area and only 20 mins from Udon Thani airport.
Prices are very reasonable, although don't expect Pattaya raunchiness.
Fairy Bar Udon Thani, Happy Bar Udon Thani, Brick House Inn Udon Thani, The Irish Clock Udon Thani, Vikings Corner Bar Udon Than, Fun Bar udon Thani, Lucky Bar Udon Thani, Zaaps Bar Udon Thani, Country Bar Udon Thani, The red Lion Udon Thani, and Happy Bar Udon Thani, they are all worth a quick look.
It makes a nice change for a night or two, especially if you are doing a visa run via Nong Khai.
Unfortunately, we had to catch an early evening flight so couldn't stay the night.
We would have like to have visited and filmed the Day and Night Complex Udon Thani too.
Enjoy.
