Истрия — крупнейший полуостров Адриатического моря, только с северной и лишь отчасти с восточной стороны связанный с материком. С северо-запада от полуострова лежит Триестский залив, с востока — залив Кварнер.

Istria (/ˈɪstriə/ ISS-tree-ə; Croatian, Slovene: Istra; Istriot: Eîstria; Italian: Istria; German: Istrien), formerly Histria (Latin), Ίστρια (Ancient Greek), is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. The peninsula is located at the head of the Adriatic between the Gulf of Trieste and the Kvarner Gulf. It is shared by three countries: Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy. Croatia encapsulates most of the Istrian peninsula with its Istria County (Regione istriana in Italian).
The geographical features of Istria include the Učka mountain ridge, which is the highest portion of the Ćićarija mountain range; the rivers Dragonja, Mirna, Pazinčica, and Raša; and the Lim bay and valley. Istria lies in three countries: Croatia, Slovenia and Italy. By far the largest portion (89%) lies in Croatia. Croatian Istria is divided into two counties, the larger being Istria County in western Croatia. Important towns in Istria County include Pula/Pola, Poreč/Parenzo, Rovinj/Rovigno, Pazin/Pisino, Labin/Albona, Umag/Umago, Motovun/Montona, Buzet/Pinguente, and Buje/Buie. Smaller towns in Istria County include Višnjan, Roč, and Hum.

Travel Guide Krapina-Zagorje, Croatia - Agritourism
Zagorje wine path labyrinth is magical. Unforgettable, because it spreads on top of the hills, with a breath taking a view. Inspiring, because it is composed of sunny green vineyards, wooden huts, calloused hands and welcoming smiles. Irresistible, because it combines the tastes of juicy roasted turkey with carefully cultivated wine cards. Pleasant, because the wind carries the sounds of domestic songs through the hills. In such labyrinth, no one is lost.

Jama-Grotta Baredine Cave in Croatia [HD]
A short film showing the Jama-Grotta Baredine Cave. Enjoy!
The sightseeing lasts 40 minutes, visitors descend along a 300m long pathway up to 60m below the ground and an underground lake and visit 5 beatifully decorated chambers.
An interesting detail of this adventureous trip is also the encounter with the underground world of animals: visitors will see the human fish (Proteus anguinus Laurenti), endemic in this dinaric karst region- an animal that can be found only in this karst area.
In one of the chambers you will pass along a 4m wide passage that leads vertically 66m down reaching the deepest point of the cave at 132m.
The cave is well-lit and ordered, the pathway and the stairs have firm rails. The temperature is very pleasant 14°C.
The Baredine cave got its name from the expression for the nearby terrain (baredine), which probably comes from the word bared, used in the local dialect to denote untreated land.
The Cave is situtated in the western part of Istria between Poreč, Višnjan and Tar, only 5km away from the coast. The karst region, where it was created, is a sea sediment covered by red soil (terra rossa). From the vertical entrance into the cave situated at 117m above the sea level there is a beatiful sight over olive and grape vine plantations all the way to the sea.
Around the cave there is also a parking lot (for cars and buses), reception, caffee bar/buffet, Traktor story - exhibition of antique tractors and display of items about bread, olive oil and wine, souvenir shop, centre for speleo climbing - Spelelit and a photo gallery with a thematic exhibition of photos dealing with explorations of various caves.
