Wiggensbach is a municipality in Bavaria. It is situated about 7 kilometres west of Kempten, the next greater town. Neighbour municipalities are Altusried in the north and Buchenberg in the south of the village. The municipality consists of Wiggensbach as the main village and Ermengerst and Westenried as two districts of Wiggensbach. There are furthermore 72 hamlets in the area of the municipality. The height of the village is between 870 and 1.077 metres above sea level. 1. Neuschwanstein Castle Hohenschwangau
Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and in honour of Richard Wagner. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and by means of extensive borrowing, rather than Bavarian public funds. The castle was intended as a home for the king, until he died in 1886. It was open to the public shortly after his death. Since then more than 61 million people have visited Neuschwanstein Castle. More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer.

August 2009 Sommer in Maulbronn, Stuttgart, im Legoland und Allgäu

Auf dem Weg in die baden-württembergische Landeshauptstadt passierten wir im Kraichgau das Kloster Maulbronn, eine ehemalige Zisterzienserabtei in der Ortsmitte der gleichnamigen Kleinstadt. Es gilt als die am besten erhaltene mittelalterliche Klosteranlage nördlich der Alpen. Alle Stilrichtungen und Entwicklungsstufen von der Romanik bis zur Spätgotik sind vertreten. Seit 1993 ist das Kloster Maulbronn Weltkulturerbe der UNESCO.

In Stuttgart besuchten wir den Killesberg, machten eine Stadtrundfahrt, erlebten dabei alle wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten, an denen die Stadt so reich ist, und besichtigten schließlich Kunst- und Mercedes-Museum mit ihren Schätzen.

Auf der Weiterfahrt ins Allgäu waren wir in Göppingen, das ich zuletzt als kleines Kind erlebt hatte. Am dortigen Krankenhaus war mein Großvater Chefarzt.

Anschließend ging's weiter zum Legoland in Günzburg, und abends gelangten wir zu unserem Hotel in Unterkürnach. Von dort unternahmen wir mehrere Ausflüge, etwa nach Wiggensbach oder zum Kletterwald Grüntensee.

Über Ottobeuren, wo wir das Benediktinerkloster und die herrliche barocke Kirche - 13:21 - besuchten, ging's dann wieder nach Haus.

Alles in allem ein erholsamer, dabei wegen der vielen Aktivitäten rundherum interessanter Urlaub im „Ländle ... !
