Annecy is the largest city of Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in southeastern France.
It lies on the northern tip of Lake Annecy, 35 kilometers south of Geneva.
Nicknamed the Pearl of French Alps in Raoul Blanchard's monograph describing its location between lake and mountains, the city controls the northern entrance to the lake gorge.
Due to the lack of available land, its resident population has remained stagnant, with 52,029 inhabitants living within the city limits in 2013.
However, its urban area, with 221,000 inhabitants, is on the 5th regional position, just behind the Geneva-Annemasse urban area, which counts 292,000 inhabitants in the northern department.
Switching from counts of Geneva’s dwelling in the 13th century, to counts of Savoy’s in the 14th century, the city became the capital of the Savoy province in 1434 during the prerogative of Genevois-Nemours until 1659.
Its role increased in 1536, during the Calvinist Reformation of Geneva, while the bishop took refuge in Annecy.
St Francis de Sales gave Annecy its role of advanced citadel of the Catholic Counter-Reformation.
The annexation of Savoy will link the city to France in 1860.
Sometimes called Venice of the Alps, this idyllic and touristic representation comes from its two canals and the Thiou river lying through the old city and whose initial role was to protect the city and to empower its handicrafts.
The city experienced an industrial development in the 19th century with silk manufacturing.
Some of its industrial legacy remains today within the head offices of NTN-SNR bearings, Salomon, Entremont and Dassault Aviation.
Since the end of the 19th century, Annecy has developed as a tourist center with the proximity of the lake, winter resorts and the renovation of its castle, inaugurated with the opening of its fine art museum in 1956.
The municipal environmental policy managed to keep 40.3% of green spaces and the city and was awarded the Golden Flower in 2015, given to the nine most-flowered French cities.
Since 1960 Annecy has been the organiser of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, hosted at the Bonlieu Cultural Centre.
It has also been a growing educational center since the establishment of the University of Savoy in 1973.

I continue the city tour videos. While I was in Geneva I met with my friend Pierre who flies Boeing 777 in Swiss airlines. It's one of the best things in business aviation as you can visit nice places and spend time with your friends from all over the world.
Pierre called me to join him on a short trip to Annecy so I had few hour to walk around the city and film it's small streets and fly above the beautiful lake.

Due to a lack of available building land between the lake and the protected Semnoz mountain, its population remained stagnant, around 50,000 inhabitants, since 1950. However, the 2017 merger with several ex-communes extended the city population to 124,401 inhabitants, and 203,078 for its urban area, 6th regional position below Annemasse, which counts 292,000 inhabitants in the northern department.
Switching from counts of Geneva's dwelling in the 13th century, to counts of Savoy's in the 14th century, the city became Savoy's capital in 1434 during the Genevois-Nemours prerogative until 1659. L'opéra de Zurich (allemand: Das Opernhaus Zürich) est un opéra de Zurich, situé près du Bellevue, et ouvert en 1891. Le théâtre a été construit pour remplacer le théâtre Aktientheater (vieux théâtre) qui a succombé à un feu. . Son nom d'origine était Stadttheater. Les architectes étaient le célèbre cabinet d'avocats viennois Fellner & Helmer. Initialement conçu pour le théâtre parlé et chanté, après l'ouverture du Zürich Schauspielhaus, il se limitait à la représentation de l'opéra, de l'opérette et du ballet.
30. Monastère de Saint-Jean (Müstair)
Le monastère de San Juan est une ancienne abbaye bénédictine située à Müstair, en Suisse. Il est dédié à Saint Jean-Baptiste. Depuis 1983, il a été inclus dans la liste des sites du patrimoine de l'UNESCO en raison du cycle extraordinaire des fresques de la période carolingienne (IXe siècle) qui y sont conservés. L'abbaye a été fondée vers 780 par Mgr Chur. En 1167, il a été transformé en un couvent de femmes. Au cours des restaurations qui ont été réalisées au 20ème siècle, des fresques romanes ont été trouvées, datant de l'année 1160.

L'église de Saint-Pierre (allemand: Peterskirche) est l'une des quatre principales églises de l'ancienne Zurich. Les trois autres sont le Grossmünster, le Fraumünster et le Predigerkirche. Il est situé à côté de Lindenhof, l'ancienne forteresse romaine dans le même espace où se trouvait autrefois un temple dédié à Jupiter. Les archéologues ont trouvé les vestiges d'une petite église à 10 mètres sur 7 du huitième ou neuvième siècle. Ce premier bâtiment a été remplacé autour de l'an 1000 par une église romane tôt. En 1230 cette église a été remplacée par une autre de style roman tardif bien que des parties de la première survivent encore. La nef principale a été reconstruite en 1460 dans le style gothique. Le premier maire de Zurich, Rudolf Brunn, a été enterré ici en 1360. Jusqu'en 1911, le clocher, l'un des plus hauts de Zurich, était utilisé pour la surveillance des incendies.

The French town of Annecy is a popular resort just twenty-two miles south of Geneva, Switzerland and about 40 miles west of Chamonix and Mont Blanc in the Alps. Annecy is a beautiful town with a gorgeous lake and parks. The town was part of the House of Savoy that ruled the region from the eleventh century. Savoy didn't officially become part of France until 1860 so the area has a very distinct style all its own.
