Annecy is the largest city of Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in southeastern France. It lies on the northern tip of Lake Annecy, 35 kilometers (22 mi) south of Geneva.Nicknamed the Pearl of French Alpshe city controls the northern entrance to the lake gorge. Sometimes called Venice of the Alps, this idyllic and touristic representation comes from its two canals and the Thiou river lying through the old city and whose initial role was to protect the city and to empower its handicrafts.

Café Les Deux Magots, Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Best Parisian atmosphere on a rainy day.
How to enjoy Paris when it's raining? For some, a walk in the rain is a fun and romantic way to spend some time. Grab an umbrella and head out to the streets of the city. It will be much quieter than usual which can be really nice. If you are like me and don't enjoy getting wet, spend the afternoon at a café. Nothing is more Parisian than opening the door of Café Les Deux Magots on a rainy day and being wrapped up in warm coffee smells and a Parisian atmosphere. Situated directly on Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, this place offers an unrestricted view of one of the oldest religious buildings in the capital, the Abbaye de Saint-Germain. Take a table by the window and enjoy a freshly baked cake, tart, or macaroon with a cup of coffee or tea. If you like a light meal, order a Croque-Monsieur or a sandwich made out from Poilane bread. You could also enjoy the famous sweets from Pierre Hermé such as the chocolate and toffee macaroon, the Ispahan macaroon perfumed with rose or the praline flavored 2000 feuilles. Beyond its gastronomic assets, the famous café can pride itself on its one hundred years of history. It was once the meeting place of the literary and intellectual elite of France such as Verlaine, Rimbaud, Mallarmé, André Gide, Picasso, Prévert, Hemingway, Simone de Beauvoir, Jean Paul Sartre.

Switzerland cycling Tour 2018
In May 2018, I cycled across Switzerland, visiting some of the most beautiful places. I started cycling from Konstanz(Germany) and ended the tour in Geneva(Switzerland).
Switzerland is a very cycling friendly country. The entire country is well marked by signs posts, road markings etc for Cyclist. So much so that, I hardly used GPS for my entire ride between Konstanz and Geneva.
I had in total 4 vacation days(Saturday,Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) and I was a bit tight on schedule. Nevertheless, I wanted to ride as much as possible alongside enjoy the beauty of Switzerland.
Preparation: This was the first time I was to attempt a multi-day bike trip. For food I decided to carry following,
Dry fruits like cashew, raisins, boiled eggs, and 650ml water(can be filled on the way) and 650ml ice tea(Peach flavor) ;-). On the way you can also find many supermarkets where you can purchase items.
It is important that you keep eating while you are riding your bike. Our bodies is like engines. In order to produce the energy required to continue riding, you need to feed yourself, every 40 – 60 minutes in the ride(Never wait till you feel hungry). In the evening, I would prefer eating a meal with rice. The best bet is to find a Thai restaurant. Rice helps you to regain carbohydrates required for the next days ride.
Kind of bike: I have a road bike. The Bike itself weighs 7.4kilos. I had one small tool bag with me(around 600grams), a food bag(around 500grams), and a bagpack on my back(around 1.5Kilo). So in total, I had around 10kilos with me. The weight that you carry usually varies depending on many things. e.g what kind of bike do you have? How many days are you going to ride? Are you planning to camp or will you stay in a hotel/hostel? etc
One thing to remember guys, taking your bike in a Swiss train costs 20CHF(which is quite expensive) as of 2018.
Day 1: Konstanz – Mullheim – Frauenfeld – Winterhur – Zurich – Zug. This is around a 113km route. From Zug, I took a train to Brunigpass(50-60kms), where I had booked a hostel.
Day 2: Brunigpass – Interlaken – Spiez – Thun – Bern. This is around 95kms. I stayed in a hostel in Bern
Day 3: Bern – Koniz – St Antoni – Fribourg. From Fribourg to Lausanne, I took a train. Lausanne – Morges – Rolle – Dully – Nyon - Geneva
