Those first sea cucumbers elaborated by hand with the esparto that grew in the adjoining forests, were the grounds of an important shoemaking industry that is located in Elda between one of the first Alicante, shoe production cities.

Gabriel Miró chose Parcent as a haven of peace, surrounded by terraces with vineyards, olive and almond trees. Currently, this municipality of Marina Alta offers wonderful landscapes where its agricultural character reigns reflected in the arched rius raus.
The series entitled Alicante, town by town is being produced by the Image and Promotional Department of the Provincial Institution with the objective to make each of the Alicante’s localities known in an attractive and intimate way, reflecting its landscape, historical, cultural and urbanistic peculiarities.

San Isidro was born in the middle of the last century as a town of colonization in the municipal terms of Albatera and was recognized as an independent township in 1993. Initially inhabited by some 300 families of colonists, San Isidro has in irrigational agriculture one of the main economic motors.

Embedded in the deep north of Alicante, bordering with province of Valencia, the town of Pego is found. Its municipal term is bathed by the Bullens and Racons rivers, two arteries that provide water to the Natural Park of the Marjal of Pego-Oliva. A humid zona that harbors a great environmental richness in addition to its production of rice.
